Role Purpose


The Strategic Sourcing Supplier Engineer/Procurement Lead is responsible for managing critical supplier and commodity relationships to ensure the reliable supply of quality materials and services at the lowest total cost. This role partners closely with business development, program management, engineering, and manufacturing teams to drive sourcing strategies, supplier performance, risk mitigation, quality improvement, and effective contract negotiations.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

 

  • Lead and participate in cross-functional initiatives focused on process improvement, cost reduction, and supplier quality.
  • Manage daily ERP suggestions and support efficient supply chain execution.
  • Apply supplier relationship management processes to drive continuous improvement and strengthen supplier performance.
  • Support supplier identification, qualification, development, and transition projects for new and alternate sources.
  • Negotiate, execute, and manage supplier contracts while ensuring safety, ethics, and compliance requirements are met.
  • Interpret mechanical, optical, and electrical engineering drawings and apply technical knowledge of machining and optical fabrication processes in supplier management activities.
  • Manage supplier interactions, support cost reduction initiatives, and contribute to Global Supply Management and Advanced Optics supply strategies through collaboration, problem-solving, and project leadership.

 

Education and Experience- Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, or related roles
  • Technical knowledge of print reading, dimensional understanding, and general engineering principles
  • Experience in contract negotiation, writing, and administration
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and adaptability in a fast-paced environment


Desired Skills:

 

  • Technical knowledge or experience with optical systems and precision machining
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or Performance Excellence training and project experience; Green Belt or Black Belt certification
  • CPSM or APICS certification
  • Project management skills

The range for this position is   $82,710.00 - $113,727.00  assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
