A Day in the LifeThe Facilities Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Medtronic Ponce site's facilities and support services. This role ensures that all utilities, building infrastructure, contracted services, and facility-related projects are executed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with FDA, GMP, ISO, EHS, and Medtronic standards while supporting uninterrupted manufacturing operations.
The Facilities Manager should deliver to a safe and inspection-ready facility every day. Maintain reliable building systems that enable uninterrupted manufacturing. Execute projects on schedule and within budget. Build strong partnerships with internal customers and corporate stakeholders. Develop high-performing teams and contractor relationships. Drive continuous improvement while reducing operational costs. Anticipate future business needs and proactively prepare the site's facilities infrastructure to support growth.
This role is both operational and strategic. The Facilities Manager is expected not only to solve today's facility challenges but also to develop the long-term infrastructure, people, and processes that enable Medtronic Ponce to meet future manufacturing and business objectives while reporting directly to the PR Hub Facilities Leader.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Manages the design, planning, construction and maintenance of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities.
  • Plans, budgets, and schedules facility modifications, including estimates on equipment, labor, materials and other related costs.
  • Designs and develops organizational policies relevant to the facilities department.
  • Oversees the coordination of building space allocation and layout, communication services and facilities expansion.
  • May have responsibility for establishing and overseeing health and safety standards.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Management Skills: Management of Financial and Material Resources, Critical Thinking, Project Management, Management of Personnel Resources, Collaboration and Productivity Software.
  • Functional Skills: Knowledge of Building Automation Systems (BAS), Knowledge of Computerized Maintenance, Management Software programs (CMMS), Knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing systems, Working knowledge of maintenance operations, administrative services, contract management, security, janitorial, and grounds maintenance, Effective Communication Skills.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects and tactics within one job area.
  • Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
  • Requires a Bachelor degree
  • and minimum of 5 years relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years prior relevant experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Drive preventive maintenance and reliability strategies using CMMS systems to maximize equipment uptime and business continuity (e.g., eMaint, SAP, Maximo, Blue Mountain RAM, or similar).
  • Experience submitting and managing Capital Projects and Forecast accuracy.
  • Experience managing soft contractors such as Janitorial, Handyman, Landscapers, Cafeteria and Security.
  • Exposure leading the Pest Control Program for a manufacturing or regulated facility.
  • Experience leading investigations related to Facility non-conformance, CAPAs, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, SOPs, blueprints, and technical drawings.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Experience in a regulated industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, aerospace, etc.).
  • Background in GMP, ISO, FDA, and EHS-regulated environments.
  • Familiarity with HVAC, cleanrooms, building automation systems, and utility systems.
  • Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and propose improvements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Passion for team collaboration, equity, and driving results.
  • Multitasking ability and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Effective in reading, listening and talking in English and Spanish.
  • Professional Engineer License.
  • BSME or BSEE preferred.
