About the Role

Terus Construction, a division of Colas Western Canada Inc., is seeking a Project Manager - Highway & Major Projects to join our team in Crescent Valley, BC.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Project Manager – Highway & Major Projects will direct and manage the big picture of civil construction projects for divisions across Terus, ensuring all elements align with the overall vision and goals. They will oversee and lead all aspects of operational projects from initiation to execution by directing resources, schedules, and budgets. The individual will build strong relationships with clients, engineers, contractors and other key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and efficient project delivery. This role also involves quality assurance and quality control, cost control, financial reporting, and proactive problem-solving to address project issues. 

Main Responsibilities
  • Review and assess work to be completed to ensure project schedules are maintained.
  • Coordinate and schedule all work activities related to projects and ongoing work.
  • Monitor, update, and coordinate project schedules with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Examine engineering reports to ensure quality control requirements are met.
  • Maintain the project cost control system, including the accurate daily receiving, approving, coding, and submitting of hired equipment and truck tickets.
  • Maintain project cost control including project invoicing, tracking project receivables, and ensuring subcontractors are paid.
  • Troubleshoot project concerns including adverse weather, scheduling conflicts, quality control issues, labour challenges, and contractor or client concerns.
  • Coordinate First Calls, dig permits, job kick‑offs, and related project startup activities.
  • Coordinate crews, subcontractors, materials, equipment, and other resources required to meet and maintain project schedules.
  • Coordinate logistics for mobilization of equipment and crews, including crew accommodations as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate month‑end reporting of labour and equipment hours, inventories, and hired truck and equipment time.
  • Liaise with consultants, owners, customers, management, superintendents, employees, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders regarding safety, project progress, scheduling, change orders, and project issues.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, clients, and internal and external resources.
  • Network with local government, private contractors, and the public to maintain effective communication and proactively resolve issues.
Experience and Knowledge Required for the Role
  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in civil engineering, project management is considered an asset.
  • Civil Engineering Technologist (CET) and/or Professional Engineer (P. Eng) designation preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience and proven track record in construction operations management within the road construction industry.
  • Good computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to read and understand project specifications and contract documents.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of local construction practices, codes and regulations.
  • Strong practical knowledge related to critical industry fields such as construction (QA/QC, materials, quantity, equipment, plants, productivity rates, etc.).
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Working Conditions
  • Travel required based on project requirements
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment is required
  • Willing to work overtime (may include weekends) during the busy season (April to October) and on call as necessary.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $101,000 - $123,000CAD plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus. The final compensation package will be determined based on factors including the candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
