This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on Project Manager who thrives in a collaborative, customer-focused environment. The role oversees the full lifecycle of material handling system projects, from initial order through installation and final customer acceptance.
Working closely with sales, engineering, and manufacturing teams, this individual is responsible for coordinating project execution, managing schedules and resources, supporting system design efforts, and ensuring successful on-site implementation. Coordinate project activities, identify potential roadblocks, and implement solutions to maintain project timelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs are accurately translated into production and installation requirements.
Travel approximately 15-20% as needed to support project implementation, customer sites, and installation activities. Demonstrate strong organizational, technical, and problem-solving skills while managing multiple priorities and project demands. Travel Expectations: Travel requirements are typically 15-20%, with flexibility to accommodate changing project and business needs.
Primary travel is concentrated throughout the Central United States and East Coast regions to support customer installations and project activities. Occasional international travel to Canada and Mexico may be required based on customer locations and project demands. Ability and willingness to travel as needed to support project execution, customer relationships, and on-site engineering oversight.
Comfortable working independently at customer sites while representing the organization in a professional and customer-focused manner. Secondary Responsibilities: Participate in and contribute to research and development initiatives focused on enhancing products, processes, and system capabilities. Lead or support continuous improvement projects aimed at increasing efficiency, quality, performance, and customer satisfaction.
Assist with product line management activities, including product enhancements, lifecycle support, and strategic development initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for innovation and operational improvements. Provide technical input and project support for new product development and process optimization efforts.
Support the evaluation and implementation of solutions that align with business objectives and long-term growth strategies. Must-Haves: Minimum of 5 years of engineering design experience, preferably within manufacturing, automation, material handling, or related industries. At least 3 years of project management experience overseeing technical projects from concept through implementation.
Strong experience creating, managing, and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support engineering, manufacturing, and project execution. Proficiency with CAD software, including AutoCAD and Inventor, for design development and technical documentation. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with customers. Self-motivated and detail-oriented professional with a proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving. Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple projects, manage competing deadlines, and drive projects to successful completion.
Proven success working within cross-functional teams while effectively delegating responsibilities and fostering collaboration. Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to balance technical expertise, project execution, and customer expectations. Nice-to-Have Qualifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is preferred and considered a strong asset.
Experience working with ERP systems, such as NetSuite or similar platforms, to support project planning, resource management, and operational efficiency. Background in material handling, industrial manufacturing, construction, or related engineering environments. Familiarity with metal fabrication processes, including laser cutting, press brake operations, and welding techniques.
Working knowledge of CNC machining processes, including lathe and mill operations. Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software such as NASTRAN, ANSYS, or comparable engineering simulation tools. Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design-for-manufacturability principles.
Ability to leverage technical expertise to support product development, project execution, and continuous improvement initiatives. Well-rounded engineering background with exposure to both design and manufacturing environments. Compensation & Benefits: Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications.
Quarterly bonus opportunity of up to 1% based on the achievement of established performance goals.
