Leidos’ Defense Manufacturing Sector is seeking a Project Manager to join our team located in Huntsville, Alabama.  This position will support a critical air defense program by overseeing, coordinating and managing projects needed to scale manufacturing capability at our existing Leidos Manufacturing facilities in Huntsville, Alabama.  The Project Manager is responsible for ensuring requirements and milestones are being met. Duties include developing budgets and schedules to meet contractual/project requirements for a defined portion of a program. The Project Manager will also contribute to establishing and defining program plan requirements, delivery timeline, key performance indicators, including monitoring and reporting performance, to ensure that contractual, cost and schedule objectives are met.

This position will report to the Manufacturing Operations Director and will work with the manufacturing, functional support and program teams to ensure projects are executed and meet objectives.

Primary Responsibilities  

  • Develop resource loaded project schedules and managing the tasks, dependencies, and risks to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Oversee and coordinate multiple projects while monitoring and managing risks.
  • Collaborate with the manufacturing facility teams, including functional support teams, subject matter experts, contracts, subcontracts, finance and security, to ensure projects are executed efficiently and meet cost, performance, and schedule objectives.
  • Set project goals, develop plans to meet those goals and report status throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Brief and present project plans to key stakeholders.
  • Organize meetings to discuss project goals and progress.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated success in working with leadership to understand and define resource needs of your project.
  • Experience in performing project audits; monitor/tracking of corrective actions; managing process improvement; performing process checks on internal procedures; and reviewing contract deliverables.
  • Demonstrated success in multi-tasking, self-assigning work, and functioning in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, SharePoint, and PowerPoint).
  • Prior experience managing complex projects to include scope baselining, budgeting, scheduling, and performance monitoring/reporting.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville - North Alabama, AL area.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance OR meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in Lean principles, manufacturing metrics, and continuous improvement.
  • Familiarity with Deltek Costpoint accounting software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Solumina MES software is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Agile or Windchill PLM software is a plus.
  • Strong personnel, planning, and project management skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
