Project Manager- Manufacturing

Principal Manufacturing is seeking a Project Manager to join our team in Broadview, IL. As a leader in fineblanking, conventional stamping and plastic injection molding, Principal Manufacturing sets itself above the competition.

The Project Manager will coordinate and manage new projects to ensure on time completion and production launch. Manage various departments' activities to prioritize actions that minimize risk to on time launch of new products. Manage inter-departmental meetings (APQP, tooling design reviews, etc.) and report projects progress.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage project plans in consultation with stakeholders, including clients and staff.
  • Monitor, document, and report project progress to ensure activities are proceeding to plan and budget and implement necessary adjustments to meet deadlines.
  • Consulting with the Director of Engineering to seek guidance and input during key phases of each project.
  • Initiate and maintain project iteration tasks throughout the project cycle.
  • Organize and coordinate new project activities to cross-functional team members to ensure timing and expectations are understood.
  • Communicate project status and updates to stakeholders regularly
  • Design, Build, Lessons Learned and CI implementation.
  • Execute the full project management life cycle from PO acceptance to production hand-off for multiple projects simultaneously, including New Product Introduction & Continuous Improvement.
  • Proactively identify and manage plans for project risks, issues and opportunities.
  • Communicate project status regarding schedule, cost, deliverables, risks, issues and opportunities internally and externally.

Review key process for accuracy and "quality of event" (Control plans, PFMEA, inspection instructions, process routings as compared to quoted routings, etc.)

Support prototype activities.

  • Strong MS Project skills
  • Ability to multitask.
  • Effective computer skills including Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Recognized project management qualification.

  • In-depth understanding of prevailing project management methods.
  • Planning, with the capacity to identify and minimize risks.
  • Familiarity with tools and metrics needed to evaluate project performance.
  • Ability to lead meetings, stay focused on agenda and document results.
  1. Preferred Skills/ Knowledge: (Ideal skill set)
  • Automotive experience in new product development / launch (a plus)

Engineering and quality background with exposure to various manufacturing processes (stamping, molding, machining, etc. (a plus)

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and GD&T.

  • Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
  • Project management experience a plus
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Computer proficiency

Able to creatively help customers and PMC support timing reductions as required.

Internal contacts include sales, engineering, tooling, production, maintenance, scheduling, production and shipping departments.

External contacts include suppliers, customers on specific assigned programs.
