Job description

ZTEX Construction is a heavy civil contractor specializing in earthwork, concrete, asphalt paving, underground utilities, and overall project management. We are locally owned, and we are always in search of talented Project Managers, who are looking to grow and join a dynamic and rewarding team. The ideal candidate will be very knowledgeable in project management within the construction industry, willing to learn, take initiative, positive and committed to excellence.

 

A Project Manager provides overall management and direction for field projects. Execute and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members, third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plans. A Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Monitor and control construction through direction of the on-site Superintendent to ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget. Investigate potential problems/situations and implement corrective measures.
  • Developing project scopes and objectives
  • Ensure resources availability and allocation.
  • Develop a detailed project plan to track progress.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule and costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques.
  • Report and escalate to management as needed.
  • Manage the relationship with the client and project partners.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors list.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Ensure all field employees perform their jobs in a safe and effective manner.
  • Train and Development of staff when necessary.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulation pertaining to Construction.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a project manager/administrator.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with Clients, Vendors, OSHA and Employees.
  • Must be able to handle stressful situation, be resourceful when confronted with a problem.
  • Prioritize, excellent organizational skills, meet set deadlines.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be Bi-lingual English/Spanish

Experience & Education

  • Four-year Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or extensive experience in construction and management required.
  • 3-5 yrs. of previous experience required.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit, stand, bend and walk for long periods of time.
  • Able to lift, push, pull 20 – 50lbs.
  • Regularly exposed to moving equipment
  • Exposed to outside weather conditions – extreme cold & hot temperatures, rain, sleet and wind.
  • Noise level is usually loud.
  • Exposure to fumes and airborne particles
