Job Summary

WEC is growing and has an immediate opening for a Technical Project Manager. As a part of the team (a highly skilled, autonomous engineering team focused on solving complex technical challenges with precision and speed), you'll work alongside a small, elite group of cross-functional engineers who thrive on deep technical work, individual ownership, and close collaboration. You'll be trusted to keep high-impact initiatives organized, aligned, and moving forward with minimal oversight. The position reports to the Software Engineering Manager.

This position is located at our Equestrian Center in Ocala, Florida. Successful candidates will play a critical role in planning, coordinating, and delivering world-class enterprise software and applications in support of the World Equestrian Center's leadership in equestrian sports and the hospitality industry. This position will be a key position, working with the software organization and business stakeholders to translate real-world business requirements into clear, actionable plans and to drive the delivery of innovative enterprise-grade solutions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate work across engineers, designers, and business stakeholders in a growing, high-trust environment.

  • Translate business requirements into clear scope, milestones, and actionable plans for a small, cross-functional engineering team.

  • Create and maintain clear documentation - requirements, plans, decisions, and status - that keeps the team and stakeholders aligned.

  • Perform business analysis to clarify needs and surface trade-offs, keeping initiatives aligned to broader organizational goals and strategy.

  • Maintain visibility into project status, risks, and dependencies, and communicate them clearly and proactively to stakeholders.

  • Produce delivery artifacts and communications such as milestone planning, release notes, and team- and executive-level progress summaries.

  • Help establish and maintain lightweight planning and review rhythms that fit the team, and continuously improve how work is organized and tracked.

  • Balance scope, timeline, and quality, making pragmatic trade-offs in close collaboration with engineering leadership.

  • Dig into unfamiliar problem domains, researching and learning them thoroughly as the team takes on new and increasingly complex projects.

Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of professional experience managing technical or software development projects.

  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle and modern engineering practices.

  • Strong documentation and business analysis skills, with the ability to turn ambiguous needs into clear requirements and plans.

  • Comfortable operating in a rapidly growing environment with complex, evolving scope - adaptable, resourceful, and strong problem solving, with an ability to learn new domains quickly.

  • Experience working directly with engineers on scope, architecture, and technical trade-offs.

  • A mindset of ownership, autonomy, and accountability.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a passion for learning and growth.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Highly organized, independent, and able to interact with individuals from multiple disciplines.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, business or another related field.

Nice To Haves
  • Experience using GitHub Issues and Projects to plan and track work.

  • Experience with projects using event sourcing and/or event modeling.

  • Experience with or knowledge of equestrian sports.

  • Familiarity with .NET Core/C#, ASP.NET, and React-based application stacks.

  • Familiarity with GitHub, GitHub Actions, and GitHub Enterprise features.

  • Experience coordinating delivery in both cloud-native and self-hosted environments.

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern release processes.

  • Awareness of or experience with common delivery approaches such as Scrum or Kanban (no formal certification required).

  • Experience supporting globally deployed and public-facing web applications.

  • Background in software development or software consulting.
