Job description

Purpose  

The Robotics Software Engineer will be a key member of the New Products Development core team and play a critical role in the success of prototyping and testing new product and service offerings for our commercial business units in subsea robotics, material handling automation, and in people mover applications, among others. 

Location

  • Role will be office based with flexibility to work virtually.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% 
Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore energy industry. We develop products and services for use throughout the lifecycle of an offshore oilfield, from drilling to decommissioning. We operate the world's premier fleet of work class ROVs. We also use applied technology expertise to serve the defense, material handling, aerospace, science, and renewable energy industries.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics/Software Engineering or relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum 1 year experience with integrating multiple software modules

  • Minimum 1 Year experience working with C++ or Python in academic or professional environment 

  • Minimum 1 year of experience working with electrical and electronic circuits in academic or professional environment.

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.

DESIRED

  • Preferred to have experience working with hardware (Motors, controllers, industrial manipulators, sensors etc.).

  • Preferred to have experience using GitHub, Agile, SCRUM or other formal processes

  • Experience working with complex software and system

  • Experience working with Image processing and AI

  • Experience in system state machine development and software configuration

Functions

ESSENTIAL 

  • Design, develop, implement, and test software on a variety of assignments across multiple projects.
  • Work across the robotics stack to solve challenging problems in land and sea-based robotics.
  • Test algorithms that run on our robots, both internal to the software system and client facing.

  • Create and execute software test plans to deliver quality software

  • Create prototypes and proof of concepts for new features 

  • Support testing of prototype and document results
  • Work with system and product teams to ensure quality software delivery
  • Interact with customer representatives to define and manage customer expectations.
