Job Summary

Analyze, design, develop, and install software solutions. Serve as a point of escalation for operational support for assigned systems, ensuring quick resolution of issues and tickets. Collaborate with project managers, Senior Principal Software Engineers, Business System Analysts, IT service owners, and leads to keep everyone updated on development efforts and issue statuses, providing technical leadership for both operational and project initiatives. Provide daily technical oversight throughout the project lifecycle, working closely with customers, business analysts, and team members to understand business requirements and drive the analysis and design of quality technical solutions.


This role also requires hands-on expertise across SAP BTP services, RPA automation, integration technologies, and cloud-based analytics platforms.

Essential Functions
  • Lead software development, ensuring clear requirements, documented methodology, and unit testing to deliver code as designed; design sustainable and scalable architecture across cloud and on premise environments.
  • Evaluate operational feasibility through analysis, problem definition, requirements, and solution development; lead technical direction and decisions, including automation and integration strategies.
  • Collaborate with enterprise architects and infrastructure teams to integrate applications and hardware, ensuring designs and implementations meet security, QA, and cloud governance standards.
  • Maintain updated documentation for architecture, designs, and system descriptions; ensure development teams adhere to standards for methodologies, integration, tools, testing, and SAP BTP development guidelines.
  • Prepare and install solutions by designing system specifications and standards, following Information Security standards, and providing technical guidance, reports, and presentations for senior management.
  • Support SAP BTP Integration Suite and PI/PO transition activities, ensuring seamless migration and modernization of integrated landscapes.
  • Provide hands-on development and configuration for SAP Work Zone, SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC), and Cloud ALM monitoring and lifecycle management.
  • Lead automation initiatives using RPA tools to streamline business processes and improve operational efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education, training and/or relevant experience. 
  • Plus 9 years of relevant work experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Deep expertise in web, cloud, and mobility with strong knowledge of core internet technologies.
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills, including the ability to articulate complex architectures effectively.
  • Highly proficient in algorithms, data structures, design patterns, and programming languages.
  • Expertise in frontend, backend, mobile app development, or cloud platform services.
  • Extensive experience with Agile methodologies, ability to work under deadlines, and strong understanding of business operations and systems requirements processes.
  • Hands-on experience with SAP BTP, including Integration Suite, API Management, Event Mesh, Workflow Management, and Business Rules.
  • Strong knowledge of SAP PI/PO to Integration Suite migration, including mapping, adapters, and integration patterns.
  • Experience with SAP Work Zone development and configuration for digital workplace enablement.
  • Proficiency in SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC) for dashboards, planning, and data modeling.
  • Familiarity with SAP Cloud ALM for monitoring, lifecycle management, and operational insights.
  • Experience implementing RPA solutions (e.g., SAP IRPA, UiPath, Automation Anywhere) to automate manual processes.
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native architectures, microservices, CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and containerization technologies.
Environmental Conditions/Physical Demands

The salary/hourly range is $149,400.00 - $193,644.00. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. Depending on an employee's assigned worksite or location, Amtrak may consider a geo-pay differential to be applied to the employee's base salary. Amtrak may offer additional incentive and pay programs to recognize and reward our employees, including a short-term incentive bonus based upon factors such as individual and company performance that is commensurate with the level of the position and/or long-term incentive plan compensation.
