Job description

Uprite Construction is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Plano team. This role will be responsible for leading commercial construction projects from preconstruction through final closeout, with a strong focus on ground up and tilt up construction.
We are specifically looking for someone who has worked directly for a commercial general contractor and has hands on experience managing ground up tilt up projects. Candidates should understand the full project lifecycle and be comfortable owning project financials, subcontractor relationships, schedules, client communication, and overall project execution.
What You'll Do
• Manage commercial construction projects from preconstruction through completion and closeout
• Lead ground up tilt up and industrial construction projects
• Manage project budgets, forecasting, cost reports, owner billing, subcontractor payments, and overall financial performance
• Lead subcontractor buyout, scope reviews, contract negotiations, and procurement
• Develop and maintain project schedules while working closely with field leadership to identify risks and keep projects moving
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, contracts, documentation, and project controls
• Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and internal project teams
• Partner closely with Superintendents to coordinate field activities, sequencing, logistics, quality, and schedule
• Lead owner and project meetings and provide clear communication regarding schedule, financials, risks, and project progress
• Manage tilt up construction activities including site development, foundations, slab construction, panel coordination, erection sequencing, structural steel, roofing, building envelope, and associated trades
• Identify project risks early and work with the team to develop practical solutions
• Support and mentor Project Engineers and Assistant Project Managers assigned to the project
• Maintain strong client relationships throughout the project and support opportunities for repeat business
• Ensure projects meet Uprite standards for safety, quality, schedule, financial performance, and client service
What We're Looking For
• 5 plus years of progressive commercial construction experience
• Experience working directly for a commercial general contractor
• Ground up commercial construction experience is required
• Tilt up construction experience is required
• Experience managing industrial, warehouse, manufacturing, distribution, commercial, or similar ground up projects preferred
• Strong understanding of concrete tilt up construction and the sequencing required to successfully deliver these projects
• Experience managing projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Experience with subcontractor buyout, contracts, budgeting, forecasting, change management, owner billing, and cost control
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, scopes, contracts, and schedules
• Strong working relationship with field teams and subcontractors
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, design teams, subcontractors, and internal leadership
• Experience managing Project Engineers or Assistant Project Managers preferred
• Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and construction scheduling software experience preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred
Required Background
This position requires direct ground up commercial construction experience as well as tilt up experience. Candidates whose backgrounds are primarily residential, specialty subcontracting, owner representation, or construction consulting without direct general contractor project management experience may not align with the requirements of this position.
Candidates should be prepared to discuss the specific ground up tilt up projects they have personally managed, including project size, contract value, their role, and the responsibilities they personally owned.
