Job description

UAA Facilities Planning and Construction (FP&C) is responsible for planning, budgeting, contract management, space management, and construction of professionally designed buildings and facilities for the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) campus and its extended community campuses - Kenai Peninsula College (including Kachemak Bay Campus), Kodiak College, Matanuska-Susitna College and Prince William Sound College. UAA encompasses over 375 acres, has 99 buildings consisting of 3.6 million gross square feet of building space. The primary focus of FP&C is to ensure new construction, major renovations and alterations are designed to support the mission of the university and that physical development meets academic program requirements in support of all UAA campuses. The Project Manager is responsible for managing planning, engineering and construction activities for FP&C and providing FP&C support to other departments as well as internal team members and leadership. The Project Manager will act as an ambassador for Facilities Planning and Construction to the University staff, faculty, students, campuses, and local community regarding facilities and campus planning and construction issues.
• You'll use your experience to be an Owner Representative for UAA managing and administering a diverse portfolio of projects each with their own unique levels of complexity, while interfacing with diverse stakeholders.
• Every day we'll rely on you to advise departments on the best practices in order to deliver projects within budget, within scope, on-time, and in accordance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
• To thrive in our team environment, you should be customer service oriented, have strong interpersonal communication skills with a diverse set of stakeholders, and have a willingness to learn through regular training.
• Your ability to work both independently and as part of a team, while exhibiting sound judgment and decision-making abilities, will make you a valuable resource in navigating relevant policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
A minimum of five years' experience in planning, design, construction contract management, or other relevant experience; AND A bachelor's degree from an accredited university in architecture, engineering, construction management or similar field is required.
An unrestricted Alaska driver's license and clean driving record in compliance with UA Safe Driving criteria is required.
Master's Degree and/or Professional Registration or Certification in architecture, engineering, construction management or similar field is preferred.
Position Details:
This position is located on the UAA campus in Anchorage. This is a full-time, exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package . UA provides a generous compensation package that includes retirement options, annual leave, 12 paid holidays per year, tuition waivers for employees and family members, and affordable medical, dental and vision care coverage. New hires will be placed on the UA Staff Salary Schedule , Grade 82, based on education and experience.
