Job description

This is a hybrid position and must be located within 100 miles of the Rochester MN campus for on-site expectation.

The Senior Business Intelligence Manager will report to the Senior Manager Automation Enablement. The focus of this position will be on AI/Automation assignments that could assist all facets of the Mayo Clinic Laboratory (MCL) organization.

Manages all types of financial and quantitative analysis, strategic and business planning to ensure and support organizational profitability. Serves as business experts and bring skills common in for profit management consulting organizations. Will have high visibility and responsibility with implications for the successful management of MML. Assigned the most complex and mission critical financial analytic projects. Serve as primary financial expert supporting Sr. Director of Business Analytics. This includes strategy development, implementation, data analysis, and results presentation. Provides expert analytic services to support the strategic marketing needs of MCS service lines and their respective departments. Leads in (1) designing and implementing analysis customized for the needs of each situation, (2) analyzing internal and external data relative to the market and competitors, and (3) developing strategic market plans utilizing analytic results and working with marketing managers, service line managers, MCS administrative team, and medical directors and (4) test and client level revenue, cost and margin analysis. Will also serve as a proponent for the needs and expectations of MCS clients and other customers based on market research and satisfaction research findings. Will serve as the primary SME of the business analytics function. This function will assist in prioritizing BI enhancements and in directing the activities of internal and external consultants. Oversee the workflow of high profile analytic/financial requests. In addition, in their role as a power user of BI, they may support the organization with report design and development projects. Serves as analytic SME for Viewics, Tableau, Xifin and other analytic and billing systems. Develops databases to support analytic activities. Writes reports for assigned projects, including service line and new business development projects. Initiates analysis for New Business Development opportunities, analyzing pricing, competition, and market potential. Produces reports and graphics based on databases for market analyses and provides insights to guide decision making. Serves as analytic SME for financial analysis of billing data and third party billing. Mentor and train BI Managers. Authorized to approve selected third party billing decisions having substantial financial impact on clients and MML. Creates and interprets tools necessary for evaluating pricing and GPO contacts. Prepare materials, attend and present to numerous internal and external audiences when the Dr. Director of Business Analytics is unavailable.

Bachelor's degree with concentration in quantitative or analytic field such as marketing, economics, business administration and/or statistics and 8 years' professional experience

 OR MS, MBA or MHA with concentration in quantitative or analytic field such as marketing, economics, business administration and/or statistics and 6 years' professional experience.

Additional Qualifications:

  •  Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret data and to create actionable recommendations based on findings.
  • AI/Automation focused experience and interest

  • Significant business experience is strongly preferred. Knowledge of Mayo accounting systems, planning and procedures is preferred. 
  • Must understand basic financial accounting concepts and be proficient in the preparation of financial preformats.
  •  Prefer experience in the application of statistical concepts to business problems.
  •  Knowledge of financial concepts including time value and NPV. Operational proficiency using statistical and database manipulation tools such as SAS or SQL. Certifications such as CPA, CMA, or FACHE are strongly preferred.
