About the Role of the Project Manager

UsAgainstAlzheimer’s (UsA2) is seeking a talented project manager to help coordinate, strategize, plan, and execute projects that are led by the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Strategic Initiatives. This position will work across the organization, collaborating with different teams and initiatives within and among the various partners of UsA2. The Project Manager will play a crucial role in managing multiple projects, helping with scoping, and ensuring they are planned properly and completed efficiently, on time, and within scope and budget. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for public health and social impact, with the ability to manage day-to-day operations and support the larger vision of the organization. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a highly organized individual with a commitment to improving public health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management:

  • Oversee and manage the full lifecycle of assigned projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, deliverables, and resource requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external stakeholders, ensuring smooth communication and alignment across all project phases.
  • Monitor project progress, address challenges, and ensure that milestones are met within established deadlines and budgets.
  • Support the development of special projects,particularly in early-stage strategic planning, ideation, and establishment of new initiatives.

Facilitation and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Manage communication and engagement of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Research and engage in outreach to relevant constituencies as needed.
  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate meetings.

Research Support:

  • Perform relevant landscape analyses, literature searches, and basic research to inform specific projects.
  • Regularly update and refresh resources that support different projects and initiatives.
  • Provide support for research into new projects or concepts that arise.

Administrative Support:

  • Provide critical administrative assistance to the project team, including scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining project documentation.
  • Track budgets, expenditures, and resources, ensuring efficient and effective use of project funds.
  • Support reporting and data management needs related to project activities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other team members to ensure project goals align with organizational objectives.
  • Collaborate with various departments and external partners, ensuring smooth execution of programs and activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in public health, the social sciences, epidemiology, or a related field with a minimum of 5 years of post-graduate experience.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of public health issues, preferably related to aging and chronic diseases such as Alzheimer’s. Experience working on initiatives related to health equity, policy, or advocacy is a plus.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, with a strong background in research, data analysis, and stakeholder engagement. Experience managing coalitions is preferred.
  • Research and Data Proficiency: Experience conducting literature reviews, performing landscape analyses, and synthesizing complex data into actionable insights to support program development and decision-making.

Skills and Experience:

  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail with the ability to balance both high-level strategic thinking and routine administrative tasks.
  • Analytical and Critical Thinking: Strong ability to assess data, identify trends, and translate findings into practical recommendations. Familiarity with survey design, evaluation frameworks, and outcome measurement is beneficial.
  • Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate project goals, timelines, and results. Proficiency with software applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and presentation tools.
  • Translation of Research: Ability to develop reports, briefing documents, and presentations based on research findings.
  • Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing project requirements or priorities.
  • Team-Oriented: Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, fostering positive working relationships, and supporting team success.
  • Discretion: Ability to interact with a diverse set of internal and external stakeholders while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity.

Location, Compensation, and Benefits: This is a full-time, salaried position based in the Washington, D.C., area. The UsAgainstAlzheimer's team currently works remotely, but this position requires availability for in-person meetings in Washington, D.C. The starting annual salary for this position is within the range of $80,000 to $100,000. Where a successful candidate’s actual pay will fall within this range will be based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's qualifications, specific skills, and experience. In addition, the benefits package includes 15 vacation days the first year (with subsequent increases), 12 paid holidays, sick leave, a 401k retirement plan with 5% employer match, and a choice of medical plans covering all or a portion of health, vision, and dental insurance.
