Job description

Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for an Associate Project Manager in Walled Lake, MI who will work alongside project managers, lead engineers and account managers supporting various electric utility clients. We are currently seeking qualified applicants to provide Project Management Services related to distribution line engineering projects throughout the Midwestern and Northeastern United States. The Associate Project Manager will be part of an established Project Management Office within our Power Delivery Solutions division that provides consulting services to public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities for comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission, substation, and distribution projects nationwide.
This position is hybrid in nature, where 3 days/week are spent working in our office, collaborating with internal teams, and 2 days/week can be spent working remotely.
**This position requires the successful candidate to work for a contractor in a temp-to-perm format with the possibility of converting to a direct Leidos employee in approximately 6 months from the initial hire date.**

Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist project managers to manage various sized distribution line design projects for public-owned and investor-owned electric utilities
  • Accept responsibility for overall project performance and reporting
  • Ensure project costs, schedule and scope are managed, including the development of recovery plans with a focus on change management, to stay within approved limits
  • Communicate with clients, internal project teams, multiple engineering disciplines, functional leaders, subcontractors, and support personnel
  • Create and maintain resource loaded schedules
  • Coordinate with Engineering Leads to track and execute client deliverables
  • Assist with the preparation of bid documents, cost estimates and responses to Requests for Proposal
  • Complete monthly client invoicing, accruals, and accounts receivable within prescribed time frames

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Finance or related discipline is required; or Associates Degree with 2+ years of demonstrated experience in project management and/or project coordinating.
  • Must be capable of planning, organizing, directing, and tracking technical efforts on assigned tasks
  • Must be capable of tracking cost and schedule status of assigned tasks
  • Ability to take direction from and discuss decisions with the direct supervisor, and to coordinate with project team members
  • Experience with MS Office Software (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to interact with customer representatives in an effective manner

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with electric power industry and knowledge of business issues associated with power delivery services
  • Ideal Candidates will have a desire to obtain PMP Certification
  • Experience with project management software (e.g., Jira, SharePoint MS Project or P6)
  • Experience working with/previous exposure to US electric utilities
  • Previous exposure to electrical and/or construction projects
  • Proficiency in Power BI and/or financial management tools

Pay Range $50,700.00 - $91,650.00
