About this role

We are recruiting for an energetic, business savvy, and driven Project Manager/Estimator to join our Service team in our Nanaimo office. Here's how your role will strengthen our team.

Houle's Service Division provides electrical solutions across a wide range of market sectors, working with clients to ensure predictable and safe operation of their facilities. Our teams manage all aspects of the job from estimating and tendering to financials, procurement, dispatch, and scheduling.

Working alongside our solutions-oriented team of skilled project managers and estimators, you'll blend your technical experience with a commitment to customer service to deliver successful projects and build lasting client relationships.

Your responsibilities

  • Work with clients and identify potential business opportunities
  • Estimate projects and submit tenders
  • Review contracts for onerous clauses and conditions
  • Maintain good relationship with suppliers, consultants, general contractors and end users
  • Manage project financials (including billing), purchasing, schedules and labour
  • Mitigate project risk, deficiencies and estimate changes as needed
  • Work with internal stakeholders, field staff and customers, to ensure projects remain on track, on budget and meet expectations
  • Be present on jobsites when required
  • Review the project at completion with the foreman and superintendent to discuss successes and challenges

Your experience and skills

  • Electrical trade certificate, Electrical Engineering degree or Electrical Technologist diploma/certificate required
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in Electrical Project Management and/or Estimating in a related industry
  • Experience estimating projects and/or change orders
  • Experience in electrical service (commercial projects) preferred
  • FSR B, an asset
  • Previous experience with estimating programs, specifically Accubid, an asset
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships
  • Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills
  • Strong communication and team working skills
  • Good computer skills including MS Office, Procore, Teams, etc.
