Location: Lovejoy Wharf, Boston, MA
Status: Full Time
Reports to: General Manager of Night Shift Brewing Taproom
Salary Range: $65k-$70k / year
Description/Expectations:
Night Shift Brewing at Lovejoy Wharf is looking for a strong leader with a passion for creating a strong, positive Team culture and exceptional Guest experience to join our team as Assistant Manager.

As Assistant Manager at Lovejoy Wharf, you'll work alongside the General Manager to lead one of Boston's most exciting hospitality teams. You set the standard for service, for energy, and for what a great guest experience looks like and you're always looking for ways to make it even better. You know the goals, you know your role, and you show up every day ready to lead by example.
Essential Functions and Duties:
  • Taproom Operations: Oversee daily opening and closing duties, including cash handling, cleanliness, and restocking to ensure a smooth service
  • Beer & Service Quality: Maintain beer freshness and proper serving standards while delivering a welcoming, knowledgeable, and engaging guest experience
  • Team Leadership & Training: Lead, train, and support taproom staff, fostering a positive, collaborative, and hospitality-driven culture
  • Guest Experience: Greet guests warmly, provide recommendations, assist with orders touch tables, and ensure an outstanding guest experience
  • Sales & Inventory: Track sales trends, manage retail and draft inventory, and ensure proper ordering and organization of supplies
  • Events & Atmosphere: Help plan and execute private and public events while maintaining an inviting atmosphere with the right music, temperature, and layout
  • Compliance & Transactions: Accurately process payments, verify IDs, and ensure responsible alcohol service
  • Scheduling & Staffing: Create and manage schedules
  • Collaboration & Growth: Work closely with leadership, marketing, and events teams to support the taprooms success and continuously improve operations.
Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • TIPS and/or ServSafe Certified, Crowd Manager Certified
  • Minimum 5+ years hospitality experience required; hospitality management experience preferred and brewery experience is a huge plus!
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to motivate, lead, and develop a strong team and individual team members
  • Exceptional time management, multi-tasking & prioritization skills
  • Knowledge of POS systems, scheduling software, and office/Google applications
  • Demonstrates an eagerness for listening to ideas, questions, and feedback with trust and respect
  • Exhibits a strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork
  • Exercises discretion in handling and disseminating financial and non-financial information
  • Easily flexes and adapts to adjust to sudden changes
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lb
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Continuously reach, bend, lift, carry, stoop and wipe
