Job description

The Construction Superintendent is a key part of Kinsley Steel's field and project management team for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects.
Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate structural steel and miscellaneous erection projects
  • Read specifications and blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, and sizes of materials required
  • Create schedules that include preconstruction planning, weekly progress, deliveries, turnovers, and closeout procedures
  • Manage vendors and subcontractors
  • Assist the Project Manager in the monthly Work in Progress reports (WIPs) based on field labor productivity
  • Monitor project safety
  • Coordinate field quality control reporting and survey coordination
  • Assist Project Manager in developing change orders
  • Maintain positive client relationships and communicate effectively with all parties associated with the project
  • Communicate and coordinate with other project contractors and fabrication to maintain schedule, deliver of materials, and mitigate design conflicts
  • Issue corrective action notices to subcontractors, as required, to enforce company and/or project guidelines/policies
  • Effectively organize and maintain important documents in both a hard copy and electronic format
Qualifications
  • Prior Construction Superintendent experience
  • Valid US driver's license is required
  • 5+ years of experience in construction site work preferred
  • Structural Steel or Miscellaneous Metals experience a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project scheduling software
  • Knowledge of Tekla (Powerfab, Trimble Connect) software programs is a plus
  • Knowledge of safety, quality, and cost control standards and procedures
  • Knowledge of applicable and proper use for the following: transit, laser lever, torpedo, torque guns, welders, gas supplied equipment, rigging and components
  • Ability to understand and apply varying levels of mathematics relevant to the position
  • Possess at minimum the tools required to field measure, verify, and audit basic conformity standards
