Job Title : Mining Project Manager/ Project Manager-Mining

Location: Toronto, Canada

General Accountability and Summary

We're seeking an experienced Project Manager with demonstrated expereince in the Mining industry to support operation and project delivery initiatives within a Mining Environment. Reporting to the Group Manager, Mining and based in Toronto, Ontario, the Project Manager will also act as a Key Account Manager on behalf of TMG by managing one or more of TMG’s Client Accounts across multiple project engagements and/or project sites. As such, the role will be directly accountable for driving TMG’s growth, client satisfaction, and profitability

This position is a management role within TMG’s Mining Group and requires full participation in the Group’s Operational Management Team. The role is primarily client-facing and billable, with minimal corporate overhead functions. The Project Manager is responsible for maintaining a high level of utilization, consistently achieving a minimum billable target as outlined in annual Key Performance Indicators.

As both a functional delivery lead and an account manager, this role serves as the focal point for client engagement, ensuring the delivery of services aligns with TMG’s standards of quality, timeliness, and profitability. The Project Manager must also act as the primary conduit between the client and TMG’s Senior Leadership Team, supporting decisions that affect overall account strategy, staffing, risk exposure, and Profit & Loss performance.

The successful candidate will be expected to be engaged on long-term and site-based construction and/or commissioning mandates. This will involve a high degree of business travel to remote and/or hardship sites for up to eight (8) weeks at a time, depending on the location and assignment conditions. This may also involve living in a construction and/or mining operations camp on the site.

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables

Client Account & Portfolio Management (Estimated at 15% total capacity on a billable basis)

  • Accountable to develop and implement growth strategies to expand account revenue, including organic mandate expansion, new project opportunities, and upsell/cross-sell of additional TMG service offerings.
  • Accountable for Client satisfaction and the overall perception of TMG’s service delivery across the Account.
  • Accountable to maintain regular communication with client stakeholders, project teams, TMG management, and service providers to anticipate needs, resolve issues, and identify opportunities for new services.
  • Responsible to develop and deliver proposals and/or change orders for additional TMG services related to the Account.
  • Accountable for accurate and timely invoicing for all projects in the Account.
  • Accountable to proactively manage overdue client payments for all projects in the Account.
  • Accountable to provide regular updates to the Group Manager(s), Vice President of Corporate Development (and President as required) regarding deliverables, timelines, personnel utilization, execution risks, and growth objectives.
  • Responsible to establish regular Project Steering Committee Meetings with client representatives to align on strategic direction, risk management, and to adapt TMG’s ongoing support accordingly.
  • Support the execution of Client strategic initiatives related to the Account.
  • Accountable and Responsible to lead Quarterly Business Reviews for the client and to tie these findings back to the TMG Strategic Capture Plans for ongoing action tracking and revenue forecasting.
  • Support TMG’s Senior Leadership Team to confirm staffing levels to ensure that projected backlog can be adequately staffed with assigned project personnel.
  • Responsible to mentor and coach project personnel engaged in Account delivery.
  • Responsible to ensure any supplier setup, formal agreements and formal commitments are received and signed off prior to work being completed on each mandate unless strategically approved by the TMG Senior Leadership Team.
  • Support TMG’s broader business development and marketing efforts tied to the Account.
Client Engagement Responsibilities & Deliverables (Estimated at 75% total capacity in a billable capacity)
  • Accountable and Responsible to act as Project Lead for all new projects and mandates within the Client Account.
  • Accountable to provide technical and functional leadership within the Account as required.
  • Accountable to deliver high-quality project outcomes on time, within scope, and to client expectations.
  • Accountable to ensure compliance with all contractual, regulatory, safety, and governance requirements within the Account.
  • Accountable for all project execution functions, including engineering, procurement, planning, cost controls, estimating, budget establishment, First Nations engagement, health & safety, environment, and permitting.
  • Accountable to develop execution plans and establish logic networks for sequencing of tasks related to engineering, procurement, fabrication, construction, and commissioning activities.
  • Accountable to prepare and provide updates to various project execution targets and monitor progress against them.
  • Accountable to develop project schedules, plans, logic networks, and budgets.
  • Accountable to monitor consultant and contractor performance against established schedule and budget targets.
  • Accountable to expedite consultant and contractor deliverables and adherence to the schedule and budget.
  • Accountable to follow up on action items with responsible personnel to ensure that items are closed out completely and on time.
  • Accountable to establish and implement quality assurance / quality control and risk programs for various project functions.
  • Accountable to chair regular project execution review meetings and to ensure that accurate minutes and action items are documented.
  • Accountable to always promote and demonstrate both TMG and client values.
  • Accountable and Responsible to anticipate and mitigate risks that could affect project or account performance, including financial, operational, and reputational risks.
  • Responsible to build and maintain trusted working relationships with customers, clients, business partners, and government officials.
  • Responsible to conduct regular visits for relationship development, project monitoring, and identification of additional service needs.
  • Responsible to coordinate with the Client Operations personnel to provide regular touchpoint communication and collect feedback to ensure seamless project execution and minimal interference with site operations needs.
  • Responsible to act as the TMG Functional Manager on projects within the account for junior employees to report to. Provide requisite support and training as required to ensure that these personnel develop and are fully competent in their project functions.
  • Responsible to identify opportunities to introduce other TMG services into the account, driving upsell and cross-sell that benefit both the client and the organization.
  • Support the overall procurement process, including scope definition, tender evaluation and recommendation, contract award, kick-off meetings, and expediting both internal and external parties in order to meet the schedule requirements for various equipment packages.
  • Support the project Information Management and Document Control plans, policies, and procedures and instill and promote the document control processes withing the project execution team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Corporate Administration & Governance Support (Estimated at 10% total capacity on an overhead / non-billable basis)
  • Support the development of the Group strategy and business plan, including target setting and account-specific growth objectives.
  • Responsible to actively participate in TMG’s annual Corporate Strategic Planning Session.
  • Responsible to represent TMG at industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows, supporting corporate visibility and reputation.
  • Responsible to share lessons learned and best practices across the Group to support continuous improvement.
  • Responsible to provide feedback on organizational systems, processes, and tools to improve service delivery efficiency.
