Job description

Job Summary:

The Project Manager serves as a lead, enterprise-level project and portfolio practitionerโ€”driving complex, multi-year, cross-departmental initiatives that advance strategic priorities. This role is accountable for end-to-end delivery across multiple concurrent projects, including integrated planning, stakeholder alignment, scope/schedule/budget/RAID management, and measurable outcomes. Operating with a portfolio mindset and strong PMO discipline, the Project Manager leads through influence, establishes and improves delivery standards, and provides clear, executive-ready communication that enables timely, informed decision-making.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads a strategic portfolio of enterprise initiatives, managing multiple complex, cross-functional projects while balancing priorities, dependencies, capacity, and organizational impact.
  • Owns end-to-end delivery, including scope definition, work plans, schedules, budgets, resource planning, and success metrics to ensure disciplined execution.
  • Drives cross-functional alignment by partnering with business and technical leaders to clarify outcomes, roles, decision-making, and ways of working; facilitates timely decisions and issue resolution.
  • Establishes and oversees project governance, including charters, stage gates, risk and issue management, change control, and executive reporting to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Develops and manages integrated master schedules, dependency mapping, and portfolio-level RAID logs; proactively identifies risks and drives mitigation, escalation, and resolution strategies.
  • Leads portfolio resource and financial management, including capacity planning, forecasting, and variance analysis; recommends prioritization and sequencing to optimize delivery.
  • Provides delivery leadership and mentorship to project teams and project managers by modeling best practices, strengthening planning and governance, and enhancing stakeholder engagement.
  • Leads communication and change management efforts, including stakeholder alignment, training, adoption metrics, and post-implementation stabilization to ensure sustained business value.

Other Functions:

  • Supports enterprise planning and prioritization activities by maintaining intake artifacts (charters, business cases, high-level estimates) and ensuring readiness for governance reviews.
  • Contributes to continuous improvement of project and portfolio delivery by refining templates, dashboards, and reporting cadences; captures lessons learned and drives adoption of best practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No supervisory responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required and a minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience managing complex, enterprise-level projects (multi-workstream and cross-departmental), including schedules, budgets, risks, and stakeholder engagement; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, complex initiatives from concept through delivery, including defining scope, building integrated plans, managing dependencies, and driving adoption/change across diverse teams.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent projects and/or a strategic portfolio, with the ability to prioritize, negotiate tradeoffs, and deliver outcomes in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong risk and issue management skills, including comfort operating with discretion and sound judgment in complex, high-visibility, and/or regulated environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and executive-level communication skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information, surface risks/options, and influence across departments without direct authority.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masterโ€™s degree preferred (e.g., MBA, MPA, MS, or related).
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred (or demonstrated equivalent mastery of project management standards and practices).
  • PMO experience, including building/using governance, templates, stage gates, and portfolio reporting to improve delivery consistency and transparency.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering multi-year programs and large-scale initiatives with significant change management and cross-organizational dependencies.
  • Experience managing vendors and external partners (contracts, statements of work, deliverables, performance), as applicable to project delivery.
  • Advanced proficiency with project/portfolio tools (e.g., MS Project, Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, ServiceNow PPM, or similar) and strong analytical skills for schedule/financial/status reporting.
