Job description

Sunroc Corporation is Southern Idaho's fastest growing, family owned, construction company specializing in excavation, grading, asphalt paving and concrete ready-mix. All available opportunities are located here in the Treasure Valley. FUNCTION: Under the direction of the area manager, the construction intern is primarily responsible for assisting the project manager and estimator in designated assignments and learning more about the construction industry through experience.

KEY ACTIVITIES:

  • Visualize, fulfill, and implement the company vision and core values.
  • Assist project managers and senior project managers to plan and review quantity take-offs, set up project estimates, field measurement for budgeting and billing, pick-up plans and specifications, as well as traffic control computer aided design (CAD) drawings.
  • Assist in payroll entry
  • Learn the bidding process
  • Perform Viewpoint data entry.
  • Input job data into estimating software.
  • Learn about the construction industry through assisting project managers.
  • Track supply quantities for billing purposes.
  • Maintain an insurable driving record.
  • Ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all times.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Intermediate knowledge of construction industry
  • Good public relations and communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, deal with budgets, and tight project schedules

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor of Science degree program studying construction management, civil engineering, or business-related field.
