Batchelor & Kimball is seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager - Healthcare Projects to lead small to mid-size healthcare renovation and mechanical upgrade projects within hospitals, medical office buildings, surgery centers, and other clinical environments.

Projects commonly include HVAC replacements, hydronic piping modifications, medical gas upgrades, AHU and chiller replacements, and mechanical system retrofits within critical care or sensitive areas.
This position would service the NE Atlanta and Athens area.
What you'll do
  • Plan and manage mechanical renovation projects from preconstruction through closeout.
  • Conduct detailed site investigations of existing conditions, access limitations, and potential impacts to patient care.
  • Develop logistics plans specific to healthcare environments, including infection control (ICRA), interim life safety measures (ILSM), and phased access.
  • Coordinate with hospital facilities teams, clinical leadership, and infection control personnel.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Batchelor & Kimball's healthcare clients.
  • Communicate proactively regarding shutdowns, outages, after-hours work, and impacts to patient care areas.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships that reinforce B&K's reputation for reliability and expertise.
  • Develop and manage project budgets, estimates, and schedules.
  • Track job cost reports, labor productivity, material expenses, and subcontractor performance.
  • Prepare and manage change orders, RFIs, shutdown requests, and healthcare-required documentation.
  • Support commissioning and turnover documentation, including as-builts and equipment information.
  • Work closely with foremen, field leadership, and subcontractors to address unforeseen conditions and technical challenges common in older healthcare facilities.
  • Assist with procurement planning and manage long-lead items around hospital operational windows.
  • Provide support for mechanical systems including hydronics, steam, chilled water, medical gas, and specialized HVAC systems.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital safety programs, ICRA procedures, and NFPA requirements.
  • Actively support Batchelor & Kimball's safety culture and all OSHA regulations.
  • Oversee system testing, TAB coordination, commissioning, and final punch list completion.

What you'll need (minimum qualifications)
  • 5+ years of mechanical project management experience, ideally with healthcare or mission-critical renovation work.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, piping, and mechanical equipment in existing building environments.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, specifications, and healthcare facility guidelines.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple small projects at once.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Proficiency with project management systems (Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.).
  • Direct experience in hospitals or healthcare campuses.
  • Familiarity with ICRA, ILSM, and healthcare phasing and logistics

Prior work experience and educational requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience with design-build or design-assist mechanical projects.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-building skills aligned with Batchelor & Kimball's values.
  • Ability to work seamlessly in occupied and sensitive healthcare environments.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
