Are you a licensed Mechanical Engineer ready to use your experience to lead and build a local mechanical engineering team in Wisconsin? Join Axiom Consultants, a 100% employee-owned Ruekert & Mielke company, as we expand our award-winning Building Services team into Wisconsin. Based in Madison, this role offers the chance to collaborate with a dynamic group of engineers and design professionals, delivering diverse and impactful projects.
As the inaugural member of the local Wisconsin Mechanical Engineering team, reporting directly to the Mechanical Team Leader in Iowa City, IA, you'll spearhead mechanical design efforts across Wisconsin. Our Mechanical group functions both independently and in tandem with our Electrical/Technology team, forming comprehensive MEPT (Mechanical-Electrical-Plumbing-Technology) solutions. Collaborating closely with our Structural and Civil groups, you'll engage in projects spanning commercial, educational, residential, municipal, and industrial sectors. Your leadership will be pivotal in driving project success and fostering team growth within our employee-owned firm.

Goals & Responsibilities
This position includes, but is not limited to, the following duties and responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the local mechanical Group, ensuring seamless collaboration with the Team Leader.
  • Oversee mechanical design projects, ensuring quality and adherence to client specifications.
  • Coordinate with internal disciplines-electrical, structural, and civil-for integrated project delivery.
  • Develop and review project specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Utilize Autodesk Revit and commercial HVAC design software (Trane/Carrier) for project execution.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and design staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Manage client relationships, ensuring exceptional service and project satisfaction.
  • Conduct site visits and assessments to inform design decisions and ensure project accuracy.
  • Integrate supplier and contractor inputs into design and construction processes.
  • Ensure quality control of construction documents and adherence to project timelines.

Qualifications & Skills
The ideal candidate for this position will possess the following education, experience, and abilities:
  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Wisconsin or ability to obtain licensure within 1-2 months.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and commercial HVAC design software (Trane/Carrier).
  • Experience in commercial HVAC and plumbing design, including geothermal and specialty fluid/gas piping systems.
  • Strong skills in specification development and construction document creation.
  • Ability to manage and mentor a team, with excellent communication and client management skills.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and BIM Collaborate (Pro) integration.
  • Experience in electrical system integration and construction administration processes.
  • Flexibility to adapt to varying project requirements and collaborate across disciplines.
