Job description:

Open Mountain Energy in Reno, NV, has a career opportunity for a Human Resources Business Partner. The HRBP will lead and manage the HR functions as a department of one across our growing geothermal operations. This role will support organizational development, employee engagement, talent acquisition, and compliance while ensuring alignment with our company goals to drive renewable energy forward. Traveling to various power plant sites is a requirement for this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Oversee end-to-end human resources operations, including recruitment, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and ability to navigate U.S. visa processes, including familiarity with the visa types, application procedure, and compliance requirements.
  • Drive initiatives to support employee engagement, retention, and professional development.
  • Initiates and follows through to completion the entire performance management review process annually.
  • Serve as a point of contact for resolving employee concerns and conducting investigations, as needed.
  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's geothermal project goals.
  • Collaborate in workforce planning and talent management initiatives to support the expansion of geothermal facilities.
  • Partner with leadership to cultivate a strong company culture.
  • Participate in developing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
  • Provides recommendations and directives to management as necessary during the termination process.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Administer compensation, benefits, and LOA programs based on improvements and industry trends.
  • Responsible for completing and submitting annual OSHA reports in compliance with federal safety regulations, including maintaining accurate injury and illness records (e.g., OSHA 300, 300A, and 301 forms).
  • Maintain employee records with accuracy and confidentiality.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management, business administration, or related field.
  • 4+ years of progressive HR experience.
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SCP certification preferred.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with HRIS systems, Paycor preferred.
  • Traveling to various power plant sites is essential.
  • Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Prior experience in the energy, renewables, or industrial sector is preferred.
  • OSHA training or familiarity with safety protocols in industrial settings is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information consistently
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to travel as required occasionally
