Title: Product Specialist HVAC

Reports To: Director of Product Management

Hybrid Barrie Ontario - 4-month Contract 

Job Purpose: The Product Specialist will be responsible for drafting business cases and business analysis for assigned new products.  Project Management lead on Express and/or Big Box projects to support bringing new initiatives through development and launch readiness. Incumbent will work on competitive analysis, work through P&L scenarios. Support of other departments with respect to product development and product marketing.  The most important aspect of this role will be to make sure things get done properly and on time with respect to the overall departmental and corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • In support of Stage Gate, assist Senior team members in the organization and execution of project management duties including product management requirements on Express project initiatives. Make sure all team members know what is required, by when and that the stage gate process is followed. Be responsible for project document management including set up, organization and logging information into databases.
  • Serve as a liaison between cross functional departments for both small and large project management initiatives including ECOs (Change Notices), liason with brand team for Salsify inputs on product details.
  • Support business initiatives related to new product development targets and existing product management support.
  • Do research and manage special projects. Help co-ordinate pricing and competitive price comparison. Create professional presentations.  May be required to deliver the presentation.  
  • Support various channel initiatives and project execution for onboarding process of new initiatives sold into the customer (e.g., help prepare for line review with mass retailers).
  • Make sure we capture voice of customer (VOC) – as part of process for customer driven innovation, this will include creating interview guides, conducting interviews and capturing and organizing feedback.

Education & Experience:

  • Post-secondary diploma in Business, Marketing, Technical Writing or related field is required.
  • 1-3 years’ business or marketing experience; preference given to individuals with product management experience 
  • Experience working in collaborative cross functional teams. Proven experience partnering with Sales, Engineering and Manufacturing departments is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ERP Systems; knowledge of Adobe Suite would be an asset.
  • Must possess strong organizational and project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Bilingualism considered an asset
