Job Title: Civil Project Manager

Job Description

The Civil Project Manager leads and delivers civil engineering projects for municipal and private sector clients, with a focus on general site civil work and water and wastewater infrastructure. This role manages project budgets, schedules, and engineering staff while applying strong analytical skills, solution-oriented thinking, and a collaborative approach to ensure high-quality, compliant, and timely project delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage civil engineering projects from planning through preliminary and final design, including general civil site design, water main, and sewer infrastructure.
  • Plan, schedule, budget, coordinate, and execute assigned civil engineering work to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with client expectations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, providing clear and consistent communication during proposal development and throughout project design and delivery.
  • Oversee project execution by reviewing work performed by project engineers and staff to ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and accepted engineering practices.
  • Coordinate effectively with internal engineering disciplines and external project stakeholders to support successful, integrated project delivery.
  • Prepare and review technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and detailed construction cost estimates.
  • Supervise, mentor, and provide technical guidance to staff and project engineers, supporting their professional development and ensuring high-quality work output.
  • Participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of new employees to build and strengthen the civil engineering team.
  • Attend project and progress meetings as required and represent the organization in client and project discussions.
  • Contribute to company growth initiatives and support broader business development and organizational activities, including proposal support and client relationship building.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of ten years of progressive civil engineering experience, including civil design, construction administration, project management, and direct client interaction with municipal and private sector clients.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Strong project management abilities, including managing multiple projects, meeting demanding schedules, and responding effectively to client needs.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil engineering design.
  • Experience in municipal engineering and public works projects.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical documentation and effectively interface with clients and project teams.
  • Ability to prepare and review technical reports, construction plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) registered in the State of Michigan is highly preferred.
  • Experience with water and/or sewer hydraulic modeling.
  • Hands-on experience with Civil 3D, MicroStation, and AutoCAD in a civil engineering context.
  • Bkgd in hydraulics related to water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Experience working directly with municipal and state clients on public infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across civil, environmental, geotechnical, and construction disciplines.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and contribute to a supportive, growth-oriented team culture.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $130000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
