Job description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Project Accountant to support construction-focused financial operations for a Contract position based in Salt Lake City, Utah. This role centers on maintaining accurate project cost records, partnering with project teams on budgeting and billing, and helping ensure financial performance is tracked consistently across active jobs. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with project and construction accounting, along with strong working knowledge of Deltek and Deltek Vision.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Oversee project-level accounting activities for construction engagements, including cost tracking, revenue recognition, invoicing, and financial reconciliation.
โ€ข Work closely with project managers and operational stakeholders to monitor budgets, review contract financials, and identify cost variances requiring attention.
โ€ข Prepare and maintain accurate project billing documentation, ensuring invoices are timely, well-supported, and aligned with contract terms.
โ€ข Reconcile project expenditures, labor, and consultant charges to confirm that financial data is complete and correctly recorded.
โ€ข Generate financial reports that provide visibility into job performance, cash flow, backlog, and profitability across multiple projects.
โ€ข Support month-end and period-end close processes by reviewing project transactions, resolving discrepancies, and updating accounting records.
โ€ข Utilize Deltek and Deltek Vision to manage project financial information, maintain data integrity, and support reporting needs.
