Job Summary

Lead a team of specialized Construction Project Leaders that manage projects with a varying degree of complexity and volume within one or multiple regions. Drive the development of the team while also ensure alignment of your program to departmental/companywide initiatives and foster collaboration with both internal and external relationships maintain H-E-B standards, expectations and cost reduction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Manage a team of Construction Project Managers responsible for coordination and execution of capital /non-capital and expense projects; supervise Program Leaders that are responsible for leading one or multiple teams of Construction Project Leaders. Guide all programs through construction project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution
  • Evaluate and provide feedback on project execution, and monitor program performance ensuring adherence to overall program plans, specifications, timelines and budgets
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders including local governing agencies, construction and company leadership
  • Review and analyze program financials, identifying opportunities for cost savings and efficiency gains; maintain accurate budgets in Capital Reporting tool
  • Prepare reports with recommendations for senior leadership on impact of decisions related to design, scheduling, expenses, competitive analyses, and process improvements

Qualifications & Key Requirements Work Experience
  • Work experience leading successful projects and coaching/mentoring others in a group or team/department. -
  • Big-box retailer experience with emphasis on grocery, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, lighting, plumbing and all facility equipment -
  • background in architecture, engineering, construction/project management, or related field, comparable formal training, or work experience -
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Leads supervisors and/or less experienced professionals (2 or more) who exercise latitude and independence. May lead one or more teams or departments, making decisions based on business objectives and allocated resources, ensuring adherence to budgets, schedules, work plans, and performance requirements. Establishes operational objectives and work plans, and delegates assignments. Executes and modifies company policies, implementing new standards, products, processes, and mid-term business plans for assigned unit(s). Directs team to complete objectives-oriented assignments of by looking beyond existing methodologies and implementing strategic policies to resolve complex issues with significant cross-functional impact. A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the group/function -
  • Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals will result in critical delays in schedules and/or group operations which may jeopardize overall business activities.
  • Exercises supervision in terms of costs, methods, and staffing. Responsible for hiring, firing, and performance/pay reviews โ€“
  • Skilled people leader - Skilled people leader with background in architecture, engineering, construction/project management, or related field, comparable formal training, or work experience. Big-box retailer experience with emphasis on grocery, HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, lighting, plumbing and all facility equipment (preferred)
  • Advanced knowledge of construction methods, materials and building codes -
  • Advanced PC skills specifically around industry related software (MS suite, project management applications, plan review tools, etc.) -

Education
  • Bachelorโ€™s/masterโ€™s degree in a relevant field of education and/or work experience leading successful projects and coaching/mentoring others in a group or team/department. Completion of H-E-B leadership programs where applicable.
  • A related degree or comparable formal training, certification, or work experience. -
