About the Role
As an intern on the Project Management team, you'll play an active role in supporting initiatives that help HD Supply deliver projects efficiently and effectively across the business. HD Supply serves a broad range of professional customers, and successful project execution is critical to driving operational excellence, improving processes, and supporting strategic priorities.
In this role, you'll collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams to help coordinate project activities, monitor progress, and support key deliverables. You'll gain exposure to project planning, stakeholder communication, process improvement, and business operations while learning how projects are managed within a large organization.
This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where you'll develop foundational project management skills, strengthen your organizational and communication abilities, and gain insight into how teams work together to achieve business goals.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist project managers with planning, coordinating, and tracking project activities
  • Support project documentation, meeting agendas, action items, and status updates
  • Monitor project timelines and help ensure deliverables are completed on schedule
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization
  • Conduct research and analysis to support project recommendations and business decisions
  • Help identify process improvement opportunities and operational efficiencies

Required Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Management, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • Coursework in Project Management, Business Operations, Organizational Leadership, Business Communications, or Process Improvement

Preferred Qualifications
  • Exposure to project management methodologies through coursework, student organizations, certifications, or prior internship experience
  • Familiarity with project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Asana, Trello, Jira, or similar platforms

  • May assist in research or special projects in a variety of areas in order to fulfill business initiatives and meet business objectives.

Nature and Scope
  • Works in compliance with established procedures and/or protocols. Identifies and resolves readily identifiable, clearly defined problems. Demonstrates skill in data analysis and techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information and inconsistencies/anomalies in routine research/data.
  • Nature of work requires general supervision; exercises judgment. May be paired with a mentor. Work typically involves regular process checks or review of output by a coworker and/or supervisor.
  • May provide general guidance/direction to or train junior level support personnel.

Work Environment
  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
  • Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).
  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Certification may be required in some areas. Generally 0-2 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 0-1 year of experience in a related field.
