We are rapidly expanding our fiber network and are looking for a highly skilled leader to oversee our construction and project management efforts in the Memphis, Tennessee market.


As the Director of Fiber Construction and Project Management at Socket Fiber, you'll be a key strategic leader in the Memphis area responsible for the oversight of all our fiber network construction projects. This role will also partner with the Installation Supervisor and play a key part in overseeing the installation teamโ€™s operations, providing leadership support, optimizing workflows, and reinforcing a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.


This is a crucial role that combines strategic planning, team leadership, and hands-on project management to ensure our network expands efficiently, safely, and on budget in defined key market areas.


Pay: $140,000 - $160,000/year commensurate with experience + $5,000 sign on bonus!


Responsibilities

  • Strategic Oversight & Planning: Develop and implement a long-term construction strategy that aligns with the company's growth goals. This includes creating project plans, budgets, and timelines for our fiber network expansion.
  • Project Execution: Oversee all phases of construction projects, from initial design and planning to execution and completion. Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, meeting all quality and safety standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of in-house construction crews and project managers. Foster a culture of safety, efficiency, and high performance.
  • Vendor and Contractor Management: Coordinate and manage all third-party vendors, contractors, and subcontractors. This includes negotiating contracts, managing bids, and ensuring work is completed to our specifications.
  • Compliance & Safety: Guarantee all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as building codes and safety protocols.
  • Budget & Resource Management: Manage project budgets, track expenditures, and allocate resources effectively to optimize cost-effectiveness and avoid delays.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders, including senior management, engineers, and local officials, providing regular project updates and addressing any issues.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or director-level role, preferably within the telecommunications or utility industries.
  • Proven expertise in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, such as fiber-optic network build-outs.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction processes, project management methodologies, and best practices.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant software and tools for project management and construction oversight.
  • A strong commitment to safety and compliance.
  • A bachelorโ€™s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
