Role description:

Arcadis is seeking a full-time Construction Inspector to join our Construction Management Team in Atlanta, Georgia!

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join our team locally with support from one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country. The Construction Inspector, with the support of a strong nationally recognized technical staff, will utilize their expertise and technical knowledge of construction inspection, construction field management, QA / QC, and report documentation on various construction and/or reconstruction projects for municipal water and wastewater treatment plants, pump stations, pipelines, electrical/instrumentation, civil or other construction projects. The Inspector will report to Resident Engineer and/or Project Manager and may lead other inspectors in completing tasks and providing regular updates on daily construction activities.

Role accountabilities:

The Construction Inspector will observe and inspect construction work performed by contractors, perform punch list inspections, review drawings and specifications and other technical documents, prepare detailed daily activity and progress reports/photos and participate in project schedule and contractor invoice reviews.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Maintain quality assurance requirements and approach and monitor code compliance issues.
  • Inspect and determine deviations from general compliance with Contract Documents; clearly and professionally inform the contractor of required corrections.
  • Review submittals and other construction documents and recommend technical solutions.
  • Attend and participate in construction meetings, safety meetings/updates and project site coordination meetings.
  • Monitor and document contractor resource utilization (labor, materials, and equipment) for field changes, and time and material work and assist with negotiation of basic field construction changes.
  • Verify equipment and materials installation for payment purposes.
  • Maintain Payment Quantity documentation.
  • Perform mathematical calculations as necessary during inspection activities.
  • While performing daily inspections, inspector will be required to ensure Arcadis' project safety guidelines are being met.
  • Local travel will include to project site , client meetings, , construction oversight, etc.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications

3 years' experience in water distribution/sewer collection piping installation and/or repair

Key Skills/Attributes

Key skills for this role include; identifying, analyzing, and providing innovative solutions to problems, along with a high level of math aptitude, ability to multi-task several priorities and possess solid time management skills, and proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly MS Excel, MS Word, MS SharePoint, and Outlook). This position requires employee to work year-round in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred qualifications for this role include having 5 or more years of civil or utility construction inspection experience, along with a strong background in performing civil and mechanical inspection activities on small to large infrastructure projects. Candidates should hold NASSCO certifications such as ITCP, PACP, and MACP, as well as Water Distribution System and/or Wastewater Collection System certifications. Additional desirable credentials include ACI or NICET certifications and an Erosion and Sediment Control certification. OSHA training-specifically OSHA10, Confined Space Entry, and Trenching and Shoring-is also preferred. Active participation in regional or national professional associations is encouraged and considered advantageous for this position.
