The Opportunity
In this role, you will take responsibility for health, safety, and environmental (HSE) performance across complex HVDC and grid integration projects. You will work closely with project leadership to define and deliver HSE strategies that align with contractual requirements and ensure safe project execution from tendering through completion. Your work will include preparing HSE plans, supporting project design activities, and managing compliance with local, global, and customer-specific requirements.
You will collaborate with engineering teams, subcontractors, and customers to embed HSE considerations into every phase of the project lifecycle-supporting activities such as design reviews, site operations, and construction interfaces. By monitoring performance, establishing KPIs, and guiding corrective actions, you will help ensure safe working environments and reliable project delivery. Your role will directly contribute to maintaining high standards of safety and operational performance across critical energy infrastructure, supporting the delivery of projects that strengthen grid reliability and long-term sustainability.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Review customer HSE requirements and define how HSE will be managed throughout the project lifecycle
  • Prepare HSE tender documentation, including preliminary plans aligned with ITT and TDL requirements
  • Develop project HSE plans, emergency preparedness plans, and supporting documentation
  • Participate in HAZID studies with engineering teams during conceptual and detailed design phases
  • Establish and manage the project HSE organization, ensuring adequate resources for each project phase
  • Monitor HSE performance, define KPIs, and coordinate actions when results deviate from targets
  • Review subcontractor HSE documentation and support alignment with project and internal requirements
  • Deliver HSE training and induction programs to maintain workforce competencies on site
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Recognized qualification in HSE (e.g., OSHA 30/OSHA 510/CSP/ASP)
  • Extensive experience in a similar HSE role within project-based environments of comparable size and complexity
  • Familiarity with ISO 45001 standards (Internal Auditor Training certification in ISO 45001 is an advantage)
  • Formal incident investigation training
  • Experience preparing HSE technical documentation
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
