About the position:

We are seeking to recruit an Infrastructure Finance banker to join ING's Sector based & Specialized Lending ("SSL") platform in the Americas. The successful candidate will combine sector expertise with strong credit and execution skills, and will partner closely with coverage, execution/portfolio/agency teams and other product partners across Wholesale Banking to originate and deliver infrastructure financings in the Americas (including Latin America).

The role requires an experienced banker who can work with limited supervision. Within SSL, you will support sector-driven client activity while helping lead and execute debt financings that are often structured and complex, coordinating internal approvals and working with product partners on cross-sell opportunities. Prior Infrastructure project finance experience, strong credit judgment, and familiarity with other Capital Markets products is essential.

About the department:

SSL sits within ING Wholesale Banking Lending and is responsible for originating, structuring and underwriting specialized lending transactions across Energy, TMT, Infrastructure, Financial Institutions, Metals & Mining, Real Estate, Food & Agriculture, and Healthcare. Lending is at the heart of ING's global Wholesale Banking franchise-our largest product and a core driver of client relationships, sector coverage, sustainability impact and revenue generation. SSL works as a sector-aligned product team, partnering with colleagues across Coverage, Risk, Legal, Loan Syndicate/Distribution and operations to conduct diligent underwriting standards and deliver tailored financing solutions to our customers.

Responsibilities:

  • Work independently and in coordination with the other team members in the group to assist in the origination and execution of new infrastructure transactions in the Americas.
  • You will drive the credit process from inception to financial close, including but not limited to the preparation of internal memos and credit approval packages, and support other more senior Deal Principals for complex transactions;
  • For straightforward transactions, structure and execute assuming responsibility for all aspects of the deal including, but not limited to due diligence, preparation and negotiation of terms, obtaining final credit approval, and processing final documentation and financial close;
  • Actively engage with other departments (financial markets, Debt Capital Markets, Research as appropriate) to ensure proper coverage of all aspects of the transaction;
  • Timely process amendments, waivers, etc. in accordance with ING policies and procedures;
  • Steer the origination narrative and related marketing materials when it comes to Lending, including client pitch content, deal teasers and internal credit/committee presentations, coordinating inputs between client coverage and Lending;
  • Keep abreast of current market trends in the infrastructure market in the Americas;
  • Assist in the development and mentoring of junior team members.

Qualifications and Competencies

A Bachelor's (or Master's Degree) in Finance, Engineering, Accounting, Business, Economics, Mathematics, Planning or closely related field with emphasis on quantitative skills

Experience / Knowledge:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant financial experience preferably within the Infrastructure sector;
  • Specialized knowledge across (i) concession/PPP/P3 project financings; (ii) NAV-based financings; (iii) infrastructure corporate / HoldCo lending; and (iv) acquisition and leveraged infrastructure finance, amongst others.
  • You have an growing network of contacts in the infrastructure finance field amongst banks, non-bank lenders, advisors and sponsors
  • You have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • You will have proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint): strong excel skills and be able to operate financial models (will be tested);
  • You have a comprehensive understanding of core financial documents (Income Statement, Cash Flow Statement and Balance Sheet);
  • Knowledge of industry and company dynamics in the Infrastructure project finance sector;
  • Proven understanding of Corporate and Investment Banking markets;
  • Previous credit analysis background.

Competencies:

  • You are reliable and inventive and have strong attention to detail;
  • Ability to build and retain long term client relationships with effective interpersonal skills;
  • Proven track record to complete assignments efficiently and accurately in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strategic thinker with can-do and creative mindset;
  • Preference for candidates with datacenter financing exposure;
  • Preference for FINRA certified candidates (i.e. SIE, Series 79 & 63);
  • Strong communication and literacy skills. Spanish always a plus but not essential;
  • You have demonstrated multi-tasking and analytical skills with a strong work ethic;
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills along with a strong knowledge of statistics/mathematics.

Salary: $185,000-$240,000
