Job description

Our Project Development and Finance Practice specializes in advising clients on the legal and financial aspects of large-scale infrastructure and development projects. Our practice provides comprehensive support through all stages of project development, including initial planning, financing, construction and operation. Our team works with clients across various sectors such as energy, transportation, real estate and public infrastructure, offering expertise in structuring and negotiating project agreements, managing regulatory compliance and mitigating risks. We also assist clients in securing funding through various financial instruments and navigating complex financial transactions. By combining deep industry knowledge with a global perspective, our Project Development and Finance Practice helps clients successfully bring projects to fruition, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and regulatory requirements.

Position Summary

We are seeking a junior-level associate to join the Asset Finance practice in our Miami office. This is an opportunity to join a growing, close-knit group that works on innovative cross-border matters.

From the moment you join us, you will be working with leading practitioners within our Group, as well as with colleagues from the firm's M&A, Capital Markets, Financial Restructuring and Insolvency and Regulatory & Compliance practices, who contribute their sector-specific expertise to our multidisciplinary project teams.

In addition to possessing excellent academic credentials and legal knowledge, you should also be commercially minded, with a solid grasp of the market. Ideal candidates should have excellent drafting, writing, analytical, organizational, verbal and project management skills, as well as strong attention to detail. We value team-players with a strong work ethic and interpersonal skills.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Develop, draft, and negotiate credit facilities, syndicated loan agreements, credit insurance deals, equipment lease agreements, security documentation, sale and purchase agreements and maintenance agreements.
  • Participate in the creation of new structured finance products, collaborating closely with business and bank finance and capital markets teams.
  • Guide the execution of transactions, including the preparation of documents, negotiation, and closing procedures.
  • Work with investment, risk, and compliance teams to ensure financial products comply with commercial and regulatory standards.
  • Work with technical/maintenance teams to ensure documentation captures the commercial realities of the operation of the relevant equipment.
  • Keep abreast of market and legal changes affecting credit products, structured finance arrangements, and equipment leasing.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of aircraft finance and leasing experience
  • A Juris Doctor (JD) degree (LLM or foreign equivalent) from an accredited law school
  • Admitted to the Florida Bar (or the ability to become admitted) and in good standing
  • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker
  • Commercial and business awareness
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Strong time-management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects
