Job description

Job Title: Project Engineer Location: Frederick, Maryland Type: Direct Hire Compensation: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 Onsite

Position overview

We’re hiring a Project Engineer to support electrical construction projects by coordinating technical and administrative project activities. This role works onsite with the project team to help ensure work is completed in alignment with applicable engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions.

What you’ll do

  • Provide technical and administrative support to project team members to maintain compliance with applicable standards, codes, specs, and design instructions
  • Troubleshoot engineering-related installation and field issues; recommend practical solutions
  • Support project closeout activities, including punch list planning and execution
  • Prepare specifications and documentation for purchasing materials and equipment
  • Assist with estimating and change order management
  • Support design coordination, commissioning support, and procurement coordination
  • Generate and submit invoices and support O&M manual compilation/submittal
  • Participate in Key Project Reviews (KPR)
  • Maintain coordination/detailing logs and help manage project schedules, including schedule updates
  • Track productivity reporting and identify value-added solutions and cost-saving opportunities

What we’re looking for

  • Experience: ideally 3–4 years (open to 2+ years) in a project engineering or similar role, preferably in electrical construction or with an electrical contractor
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (ABET-accredited preferred); will also consider highly technical degrees such as Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or similar
  • Interest in long-term growth toward Project Lead / Project Manager responsibilities

Tools and software (preferred)

Experience with one or more of the following is a plus:

  • Procore
  • Bluebeam
  • Accubid
  • McCormick
  • Primavera P6
  • Microsoft Project

Work environment and physical requirements

  • Regular computer use for extended periods
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and perform typical office/jobsite coordination tasks
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and ability to interpret technical information and project documentation
