Pay Range

$121,000.00-$166,400.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

The Senior Project Engineer is accountable for all technical and commercial aspects of large and complex investment projects. Execution will be completed safely, timely, on budget and per the agreed scope and functionality. Cooperates and communicates actively with the project stakeholders such as plant managers and business leaders to ensure alignment in all stages of the project. The typical budget is $1M to $20M, and consists of various unit operations including material handling, abatement systems, utilities and electrical controls.

Responsible for equipment and work specifications; develops schedules, budgets and forecasts; selects materials, equipment, project resources, and contractors, and ensures all aspects of the design are reviewed technically and commercially for scope, safety, quality, and functionality.

Leads a cross-functional project team that typically consists of plant personnel, discipline engineers, procurement and external engineering contractors. Reports to the project steering team which reviews options and provides support and guidance at the various phases of the project.

The ideal candidate will be based in Littleton, CO or near one of our Roofing System plant locations. While this role may offer flexibility when traveling, proximity to an RS plant is required to support on-site collaboration and operational needs.

Your Day to Day:

Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead all technical and commercial aspects of large, complex capital projects
  • Manage project scope, budget, schedule, deliverables, execution, and reporting
  • Deliver projects safely, on time, within budget, and to agreed scope and functionality
  • Oversee multiple projects concurrently and drive them to successful completion

Engineering & Design

  • Develop project scopes, specifications, schedules, and investment-grade cost estimates for multi-discipline projects
  • Perform mechanical and/or electrical detail engineering
  • Ensure all designs meet requirements for safety, quality, functionality, and cost-effectiveness
  • Design safe processes and equipment with a strong focus on ergonomics and hazard elimination
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to all aspects of design

Procurement & Contractor Management

  • Develop technical specifications and contracts for equipment and services
  • Prepare bid packages, evaluate supplier proposals, and recommend vendor selection
  • Manage suppliers, contractors, and external engineering firms both on-site and remotely
  • Partner with Project Engineering leadership to evaluate and select engineering service providers

Stakeholder Engagement & Communication

  • Collaborate with plant managers, business leaders, and cross-functional teams
  • Lead a project team including plant personnel, discipline engineers, procurement, and external partners
  • Provide regular updates to the project steering team, including options, risks, and recommendations
  • Maintain clear communication regarding project status, issues, and changes

Project Controls & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with technical specifications, contracts, and company standards
  • Enforce all safety and environmental policies, driving a zero-incident culture
  • Develop acceptance criteria and ensure successful project validation and signoff
  • Prepare, maintain, and archive all project documentation

Continuous Improvement & Support

  • Identify and implement automation and product packaging improvements
  • Support process, maintenance, and production teams in resolving equipment and process issues
  • Deliver training to maintenance and operations teams on new systems and processes

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical)
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in industrial or manufacturing environments
  • Strong project management skills with projects up to $20M
  • Leadership skills
  • Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated high level of drive and initiative to complete assigned tasks and investigate and seek out improvement opportunities
  • Works with limited guidance, effectively self-directed, both independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to interface at all levels of the organization, both internally and externally
  • Supervises/Leads individuals or a project team to achieve milestones and objectives by setting priorities and providing direction. Will provide feedback for performance evaluations.
  • Experience managing contractors and sub-contractors, including bid process
  • Experience preparing estimates, schedules and project deliverables
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage change
  • Solid knowledge in contract design and legal requirements
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Proficient in project scheduling software (MS Project, Primavera)
  • Exposure to SAP systems a plus
  • Heavy travel required (50%-75%)
  • Work environment is typical of a manufacturing facility: May be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
  • May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 25 pounds
