POSITION SUMMARY:


The CoreBrace Project Engineer is responsible for the design of specialty structural elements known as Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs), utilizing a thorough understanding of their configuration and behavior based on theory, full-scale testing, and analytical resources. CoreBrace Project Engineers consult closely with Structural Engineers of Record (SEORs) during the design stage of a project and interact with other parties such as steel fabricators, detailers and general contractors throughout the duration of projects. CoreBrace engineers participate in all kinds of projects all over the world from new NFL Arenas to large microchip manufacturing campuses.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


ยท Design of specialty structural elements known as Buckling Restrained Braces (BRBs) and their connections.

ยท Design of gusset plates and verification of local effects in frame members.

ยท Analysis of relevant project documents to ensure compliance with specified design requirements.

ยท Design assist with the Structural Engineers of Record (SEORs) responsible for the overall design of structures that use BRBs.

ยท Coordination with SEORs, steel fabricators, detailers and/or erectors during all stages of assigned projects.

ยท Generation of deliverable documents, such as design drawings and calculation packages.

ยท Review and verification of shop drawings.

ยท Response to Requests for Information (RFIs) from the field and/or from the shop as required during installation and manufacturing.

ยท Addressing of plan check and/or peer review comments pertinent to the design of BRBs.

ยท Performing of other occasional duties as assigned, including but not limited to assistance with bidding/pricing, occasional traveling, marketing, and Research and Development (R&D) related activities.


QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to perform each essential duty daily.


ยท Bachelorโ€™s degree or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering.

ยท Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain one preferred.

ยท Understanding of current building codes and standards, engineering fundamentals, and structural load paths.

ยท Familiarity with seismic and structural steel design preferred.

ยท Proficiency with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

ยท Operational knowledge of commercial structural analysis software preferred (RAM SS, ETABS, RISA, etc.)

ยท Attention to detail and strong focus on quality.

ยท Strong oral and written communication skills.

ยท Ability to work independently in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:


ยท Industrial manufacturing environment with heavy machinery, forklifts and overhead cranes.

ยท Use of PPE such as gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and steel-toed footwear is required.

ยท Interaction with team members, leads, and supervisors is frequent and necessary.
