Job description

Farnsworth Group is seeking a Civil Engineer - Utilities in one of the posting locations below. Qualified candidates will work with our Energy & Utility Group as a part of the Telecommunications Team in the planning, drafting, design, permitting and construction administration of telecommunications and utility projects.
Posting Locations for this role: Lisle, IL; Frisco, TX; Charlotte, NC; or St. Louis, MO
What You'll Do:
  • Review roadway plans to identify conflicts with existing utilities
  • Design civil relocation plans for telecommunications and other utility projects using MicroStation, AutoCAD, or other design software
  • Plan and oversee work production to meet project deadlines and budgets
  • Technical oversight, training and mentoring of less experienced staff
  • Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate efforts with support groups ensuring a quality, on-time product for our clients, and financially successful projects
  • Review projects for accuracy, quality, and adherence to client specifications
  • Provide direction and support for permit plans and work prints drafted in AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bluebeam, etc.
  • Provide office support for site visits and participate in site visits which may include overnight travel

What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation
  • Experience in utility relocation design, utility coordination, or roadway design
  • Positive work ethic and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to effectively manage time while working on several projects concurrently

Nice To Haves:
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or 2+years of project management experience
  • Experience on telecommunications relocation projects
  • Experience submitting and tracking permits (DOT, municipal, USACE, etc.) for utility projects
