Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Project Engineering Manager at Siemens Energy, you will lead a diverse team of engineering specialists in the engineering of major Power Plant modification and modernization projects in the United States and other global markets. You will work closely with sales/bid management, project management and customers, to develop a technical contract and then ensuring compliance with the technical contract execution and applicable standards, all contributing to the success of Siemens Energy's power plant service business.
How You'll Make an Impact
  • Key projects in line with Siemens Energy - Gas Service business for adaptation/modernization of existing power plants, up to and including Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) with a focus on Combined Cycle, Open Cycle and Nuclear Power Plants in the Americas region. Such projects could include the exchange of major equipment with performance upgrades, as well as the integration of additional technologies / capabilities for operational flexibility.
  • Engage with external business partners (customers, consultants, authorities, suppliers, EPC contractors) and internal partners, primarily focusing on technical matters and engineering team management
  • Lead, integrate and mentor the Engineering team, comprising diverse engineering fields (e.g. mechanical, electrical, process, controls & instrumentation) and working closely with EPC contractors or Architect engineers for electrical plant, piping, civil, plant layout and similar.
  • Cooperate with Sales, Marketing, Business Development & Project Management to set up a coherent engineering plan for large, complex power plant projects, including structuring of engineering work packages, definition of interfaces, allocation of engineering resources and required time and budget.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, along with 10 years of industry-specific experience, preferably with 5 year's experience in project engineering or technical project management.
  • Long standing experience in power plants and equipment, including site and commissioning work, is a plus. Demonstrated ability in understanding plant integration of equipment and power plant systems.
  • Strong customer focus, including the ability to define scope and identify technical risks, but also having the ability to change perspectives and adjust strategies and actions to meet the needs of a dynamic project environment.
  • The ability to lead a globally dispersed engineering team, driving decision making on complex technical challenges and to act as the primary technical point of contact for all project stakeholders, including customers and internal departments.
  • The ability to manage, and control the overall technical project plan, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.
  • Flexibility and willingness to be present for limited periods at customer locations, on sites and at 3 rd parties as per project needs
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
