Job Summary
The Civil/Traffic Project Engineer will independently apply extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields. The Engineer will assist a Project Manager to lead design, mentor younger staff, and prepare PS&E deliverables on projects with complex features.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist Project Manager in managing civil/traffic projects
  • Review completed project documents for conformity and quality assurance
  • Perform administrative duties related to managing a project (invoicing, budget tracking, and schedule tracking)
  • Assist upper-level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor
  • Assist in preparation of proposals
  • Develop scope and fee for projects

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in civil engineering design required to produce PS&E deliverables.
  • Experience on projects including rail grade crossings, roadway signage, roadway striping, utility coordination, traffic signals, detour lans, traffic staging, and/or ADA design are preferred.
  • Experience with CAD and design software including Bently MicroStation and AutoCAD products
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Experience tracking project budget and schedule

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program
  • 8+ years prior experience needed

Preferred Education and Experience
  • Engaged in life-long learning to maintain knowledge of contemporary issues
  • Experience as a civil discipline lead on projects managing project team and deliverable production.

Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) in home state.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Coordinate work with staff necessary to complete assignments
  • Assist Project Manager in overseeing scopes, budgets, and schedules for project

Internal Relationships
  • Receive supervision and guidance from Project Manager
  • Coordinate project work with technical discipline

External Relationships
  • Interact with clients and stakeholders
  • Relationships with industry peers and potential teaming partners

Work Environment
  • The work is primarily in a professional office environment but may include temporary field assignments

Physical Demands
  • This is largely a sedentary role; however, some field work may be required. This would require the ability to drive a vehicle and travel on uneven ground surfaces in limited access sites

Travel
