Salary Range: $6,619-$9,929 monthly

Normal Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. *Telework available 1 day per week after completion of 6-month probationary period.

About the City Planning and Development Department

The City Planning and Development Department is responsible for guiding the citys physical growth and economic development. The department develops and implements policies, conducts research, and supports long-term planning initiatives to shape the communitys future. It also oversees the development process by reviewing plans, issuing permits, and ensuring compliance with established regulations, helping promote orderly, sustainable, and strategic development across the city.

What You'll Do:

• Serves as assistant to the division manager.
• Plans and supervises the work of registered engineers and other paraprofessional subordinates engaged in design, construction, plan review and inspection of projects.
• Supervises the review of documents and completed plans, specifications, drawings and estimates.
• Confers with managers and other departmental officials, consulting engineers, contractors and others as project needs require.
• Represents the division in matters with other governmental agencies, private firms and the general public in the absence of the manager.
• Develops and implements training programs for new technical personnel.
• Maintains necessary records and prepares reports.
• Performs related duties as required.

REQUIRES:

• 2 years progressively responsible experience as a Registered Engineer. 
• Within six (6) months of hire date, must be registered as a Professional Engineer with Missouri Board for Architects, Professional Engineers, Professional Land Surveyors, and Professional Landscape Architects. 
• Must pass a preemployment drug screen.
• Preference given to prior supervisory experience and building code background
