Job Description Project Engineer - Power & Industrial Systems Integration Location: Northwest Houston, TX Area Position Type: Full-Time | Onsite Position Summary A growing engineering and manufacturing organization is seeking a Project Engineer to support the design and execution of engineered electrical equipment systems used in energy and heavy industrial environments. This role bridges engineering design, manufacturing coordination, and project delivery, ensuring complex equipment packages are engineered accurately, built efficiently, and delivered in alignment with customer and contractual requirements. The Project Engineer will work alongside multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated equipment solutions such as switchgear lineups, motor control centers, and fully assembled electrical equipment facilities.

This individual serves as a technical leader throughout the lifecycle of each project-from concept through fabrication, testing, and final turnover. Key Responsibilities Engineering Package Development Produce complete design documentation required to manufacture and assemble Electrical Equipment Centers and related systems. Coordinate multidisciplinary inputs including structural/mechanical layouts, electrical assemblies, grounding systems, lighting, HVAC, telecom infrastructure, and cable management.

Develop interconnection diagrams, wiring schematics, and detailed cable schedules. Perform load calculations and validate system sizing to ensure performance and compliance. Project Technical Leadership Act as the primary engineering contact for assigned projects, maintaining continuity from kickoff through commissioning support.

Establish project engineering plans, ensuring adherence to internal quality procedures and documentation standards. Monitor scope, budget alignment, and milestone schedules to maintain project health. Lead assigned designers and drafters by providing clear technical direction and timely engineering inputs.

Cross-Functional Coordination Collaborate with project management, procurement, manufacturing, and sales teams to align engineering deliverables with execution strategy. Interface with customers, suppliers, and third-party stakeholders to resolve technical questions and maintain progress. Develop technical bills of material and support procurement activities through accurate specifications.

Work with document control teams to manage submittals, revisions, and formal transmittals. Compliance, Testing & Delivery Ensure all deliverables meet applicable codes, client specifications, and internal design practices. Create project-specific inspection and test plans based on contractual requirements.

Coordinate with quality and test personnel to execute factory acceptance testing and validation activities. Participate in testing events and assist in resolving punch list items through project closeout. Confirm all testing records and turnover documentation are properly completed and archived.

Required Technical Skills Design experience with industrial electrical distribution systems ranging from low voltage through medium voltage applications. Familiarity with switchgear, motor control centers, and associated protection and control schemes. Working knowledge of substation automation concepts and relay applications.

Understanding of installation practices aligned with the National Electrical Code. Exposure to industry testing and commissioning standards. Proficiency with AutoCAD and electrical design platforms such as ePlan or similar tools.

Experience using relay configuration software (e.g., SEL, GE Multilin platforms). Familiarity with power system modeling tools such as SKM or ETAP. Competence with Microsoft Office and project scheduling software

Education & Experience Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within industrial manufacturing, power systems, or engineered equipment environments. General familiarity with ANSI, NEMA, and IEC standards.

Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred but not required.
