With approximately US$1.5 billion in committed capital, Kinterra invests in high-quality, development-stage mining and downstream infrastructure projects to enable the energy transition, support infrastructure expansion, and advance global manufacturing resilience.

We work alongside our portfolio companies to unlock value through active ownership, deep technical expertise, and disciplined project development. Our culture is rooted in collaboration, accountability, and excellence in execution.

About the Role

Kinterra is establishing a centralized Project Delivery Office (PDO) to support disciplined, best-in-class study and project delivery across its portfolio.

This role is ideal for a Senior Project Engineer with a strong mechanical engineering background who thrives in a hands-on environment and is motivated by supporting the planning and execution of complex mining, processing, and infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will work closely with internal teams and portfolio companies to support project delivery through strong engineering coordination, mechanical systems oversight, project controls, and execution support.

Reporting to the Director, Project Delivery & Engineering, this role will play a key part in supporting mechanical engineering integration, project execution, portfolio oversight, and the continued development of the PDO function.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Delivery & Execution:

  • Support the planning and execution of major studies and capital projects across Kinterra’s portfolio
  • Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules, cost estimates, equipment lists, and execution plans
  • Support mechanical engineering activities related to processing plants, utilities, material handling systems, rotating equipment, piping systems, and infrastructure packages
  • Monitor project performance across scope, schedule, cost, and risk, identifying gaps and recommending corrective actions
  • Support stage-gate processes (PEA, PFS, FS, execution readiness) and ensure alignment with project objectives
  • Participate in project reviews, technical assessments, HAZOPs, constructability reviews, and execution planning sessions
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure mechanical deliverables are integrated into overall project execution

Mechanical Engineering & Technical Support:

  • Review and support mechanical engineering deliverables including equipment specifications, datasheets, layouts, vendor packages, and technical bid evaluations
  • Assist with equipment selection, procurement support, and technical coordination with EPC/EPCM contractors and OEMs
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input on operability, maintainability, reliability, and commissioning readiness
  • Support field execution planning, construction coordination, and commissioning activities where required
  • Contribute technical expertise to processing facilities, refining infrastructure, and industrial plant development projects

Project Controls & Reporting:

  • Support the development and implementation of project controls processes, including cost tracking, scheduling, and risk management
  • Assist in preparing project reports, dashboards, and updates for internal stakeholders
  • Contribute to the standardization of reporting across portfolio projects
  • Track key performance indicators and support variance analysis

Portfolio Company Support:

  • Work directly with portfolio company project teams to support engineering and project delivery activities
  • Assist with contractor coordination (EPC/EPCM) and technical interface management
  • Participate in project health checks, audits, and readiness assessments
  • Provide technical input into project planning, design reviews, execution strategy, and mechanical system integration

Continuous Improvement:

  • Contribute to the development of best practices, tools, and templates for project delivery and engineering execution
  • Support efforts to improve project performance through cost discipline, schedule optimization, reliability improvements, and risk mitigation
  • Assist in building consistency across Kinterra’s project portfolio

What You Bring

  • 8–12+ years of experience in mining, industrial, or heavy infrastructure project engineering and delivery
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of mining and industrial project lifecycle stages (PEA, PFS, FS, execution, commissioning)
  • Experience supporting mechanical systems within processing plants, infrastructure projects, or heavy industrial facilities
  • Experience working with EPC/EPCM contractors, OEMs, and owner’s teams
  • Practical experience with project scheduling (Primavera/MS Project), cost tracking, and reporting
  • Exposure to multidisciplinary engineering environments and capital project execution
  • Professional Engineering designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility considered an asset
