Job description

Job Title: Project Engineer

Job Description

The Project Engineer will support the Inside Sales team by managing the backend logic of the sales tool used to specify highly customizable firetrucks. This role focuses on maintaining and extending existing configuration logic, primarily using if/then statements, performing feasibility checks in Solidworks, and ensuring compatibility between parts. The Project Engineer will work out of a queue system and address requests from the engineering team, ranging from simple fixes to adding complex options.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain configuration logic on the backend of the FT Builder sales tool.
  • Support integration of new fire truck models, including cab and chassis options.
  • Perform feasibility studies using CAD and update options based on compatibility logic.
  • Pull, validate, and reference data from a homegrown configuration database.
  • Work items from a prioritized request queue supporting Sales and Engineering.

Essential Skills

  • Experience with configurator tools.
  • Experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Proficiency in CAD, with Solidworks preferred.
  • Experience performing feasibility studies.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Understanding of mechanical and electrical products, with the ability to read drawings and determine compatibility.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with programming logic or rule-based logic.
  • Product configurator experience.
  • Solidworks experience (not design-focused).

Work Environment

This position is office-based in an open/cubicle setting, working within a team of four Project Engineers. The team is collaborative and execution-focused, with members possessing diverse strengths. There is an opportunity to gain experience integrating a new product into a sales tool, and the project is expected to continue until the end of the year, with potential extension based on project needs. The team is comprised of fairly tenured professionals, offering the chance to learn from experienced salespeople and engineers.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
