Your Role & Impact

Questor is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and manufacturing of our existing product line of incinerators as well as the development of our new product lines. Drawing on a strong oil & gas background, you will bring deep technical expertise to a collaborative work setting where you have the opportunity to contribute to a variety of projects. The position reports to the Director of Engineering.

Success is defined in this role as someone who partners effectively with the Engineering and Operations Team, is a critical thinker, is organized, effective at prioritizing, able to manage multiple deliverables and offer solutions to problems with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality, with a desire to continually learn, grow and contribute to the team.

What You'll Do
  • Lead the mechanical design of equipment and contribute to the development of new product lines, using SolidWorks and AutoCAD to produce manufacturing drawings for fabrication and assembly and engineering drawings for approval and construction.
  • Size, design, and optimize incinerators and related equipment based on client-provided technical information and feedback, producing corresponding design reports.
  • Perform mechanical, thermal, and structural calculations and analyses, with and without analysis software, applying sound engineering principles to optimize equipment performance and reliability.
  • Specify and select equipment, components, and materials, and prepare equipment specifications and datasheets for fabrication.
  • Ensure all designs comply with applicable codes, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., CSA B149.3, ASME B31.3, AER Directive 60).
  • Test new designs and develop design reports, specifications, and technical presentations to inform teams, leadership, and stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement of existing product lines and support new product development, root-cause investigations, and design changes to improve performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering team members and perform engineering reviews and checks of others' work.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering, Operations, and Manufacturing teams to ensure designs are practical to build, install, and maintain.
  • Manage client interaction and coordinate stakeholders for meetings and project execution.
  • Support fabrication, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting in the field, traveling to fabrication shops, field offices, project installations, and client sites as required.
  • Work safely and meet all site safety requirements; maintain relevant tickets and certifications for worksite access (i.e., H2S Alive, First Aid, etc.) and serve as the senior engineer assigned to specific projects, providing engineering support for field services and operations.
What You Bring

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Process Engineers with Mechanical Engineering experience will be considered.
  • 8-12 years of relevant experience, with a demonstrated oil & gas background; must be eligible for P.Eng designation in Alberta (APEGA).
  • Experience using SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and industry standards and demonstrated ability to apply them to mechanical design.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and project tracking tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments and meet safety requirements for site visits.

Assets

  • P.Eng status in Alberta (APEGA); registration in British Columbia and/or Saskatchewan an additional asset.
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Familiarity with CSA B149.3 gas code, ASME B31.3, AER Directive 60.
  • Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) and/or simulation software.
  • Familiarity with Mecastack, AERSCREEN, and Symmetry Process Simulation software.
  • Oil & Gas industry and gas process design experience.
  • After Sales, Field Services, or Operations Support experience.
