Summary of Job Description
The Engineer I plays a key role within the Engineering Department and is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and overall upkeep of the property in accordance with hotel standards. This position helps ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for guests and associates. The Engineer I will also assist with other engineering-related duties and projects as assigned.
The pay rate for this position is $24/hour.
Work Hours
  • Will be required to work flexible scheduled shifts based on business needs.
  • Scheduling includes holidays, nights, overnights, and weekends depending on hotel events and functions.

Job Requirements
  • Understand the mission, vision, and goals of the hotel.
  • Must be able to prioritize and work efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Must be detail-oriented and able to multi-task efficiently.
  • Must be able to speak, understand, and communicate the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
  • Requires effective communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to bend, squat, and lift up to 100 lbs. on a regular and continuing basis.
  • Requires stretching, grasping, twisting, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, stooping, squatting, climbing, listening, and hearing ability and visual acuity to fulfill painting and engineering tasks.
  • Use of PPE as needed for duty assigned and with the use of required tools and equipment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Receive daily work assignments from Engineering Leadership, Manager on Duty, and Overnight Management and review priorities and special projects.
  • Organize materials, tools, and equipment to perform daily assignments.
  • Maintain timelines and work schedules in accordance with the preventive maintenance program.
  • Check work orders and maintenance reports for any problems.
  • Make rounds checking these problem areas; note any touch-up needs or/and safety concerns in the hotel.
  • Schedule work in accordance with the preventive maintenance program in rooms, coordinating with the Housekeeping and Front Office departments/leadership teams.
  • Maintain par stock levels of standard paint, brushes, wallpapers, stains, sign lettering, and other supplies. Communicate requisition needs to Engineering Leadership.
  • Maintain complete knowledge of appropriate paint and adhesive types for various surfaces, the latest techniques for mixing formulas for paints, acrylics, epoxies, scalers, concrete paints, stains, varnishes, ventilation of and storage of flammable and toxic material, mixture formulas for paints as required.
  • Repair and maintain all painted surfaces and items, including preparation and installation of all types of latex, enamels, etc.
  • Maintain the proper use, cleaning, maintenance, and storage of all tools, (i.e. brushes, rollers, paint sprayers, trays, ladders, scaffolds, etc.) and supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work areas.
  • Handle chemicals according to hotel requirements (OSHA).
  • Ensure the security of any assigned keys, radios, and beepers.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all hotel and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Complete all paperwork and closing duties before leaving and review the status of assignments and any follow-up actions.
  • Ability to push, pull, grasp, lift, or carry supplies, equipment, or tools weighing up to 100 lbs. occasionally.
  • Carries out Leadership requests in accordance with hotel policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Follow 4 Keys service standards, standard operation procedures, and safety standards.
  • Follow safety and security procedures.
  • Work cohesively with co-workers and all departments as part of a team.
  • Follow all appropriate policies and procedures while constantly striving to improve standards of operations.
  • Adhere to attendance and reliability standards.
  • Additional cleanliness or guest services duties as assigned by management.
  • Follow all additional duties as assigned by management.
