Job Description
At IPS, we are global leaders in developing innovative solutions for the consulting, architecture, engineering, project controls, procurement, construction management, and CQV of technically complex facilities, primarily in the life sciences industry. We are looking for a talented Design Project Engineer II to join our dedicated team at our office in Cary, North Carolina.
In this role, you will provide technical leadership and coordination for multidisciplinary design projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, and quality objectives throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves managing engineering activities and supporting project planning and execution. This role demands strong technical expertise across multiple engineering disciplines.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support project leads in developing resource planning and work plans, to align with budget, schedule, and deliverables as defined in the executed project contract.
  • Ensure design compliance with safety, quality, client design guidelines, and regulatory standards.
  • Support development of the project equipment list and coordinate input across disciplines.
  • Lead and facilitate regular, internal design coordination and review meetings.
  • Coordinate efforts of architects, engineers, design assist contractors, BIM teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure complete designs that meet contractual obligations.
  • Monitor design content and progress for quality and adherence to the basis of design documents, schedule, and budget.
  • Confirm state document sealing requirements and AOR/EOR responsibilities.
  • Support change management by identifying design changes and preparing design change notices, including scope, hours, and schedule to Project Management.
  • Support the design leads in providing accurate estimates to complete.
  • Support addressing client comments, responding to RFIs with necessary design revisions, and reviewing vendor submittals according to the agreed-upon timeframe.
  • Support technical review of Vendor bid documents.
  • Support technical review of project cost estimates.
  • Collaborate with Document Control to ensure proper distribution, review, and storage of project documents.
  • Support construction administration services and assist in resolving technical issues during execution.
  • Supports Project Managers and Executives in the preparation of proposals, presentations, and other sales and marketing documents.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience working in a Project Engineer role. Experience in the AEC, Pharmaceutical, or
  • Life Sciences industries is strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University or College in Engineering, or a related field.
  • Expertise in engineering design programs and BIM tools, e.g., Navisworks.
  • General knowledge of system design and applicable codes.

Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods.
  • Must possess the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl as required.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb ladders as necessary

Work Environment
  • Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, which may include exposure to varying working conditions.
  • Must be able to adhere to strict cleanroom gowning protocol

Travel
  • This position will have 5-20% travel, or as required by the assigned project.
  • You may be assigned to a client site for an extended period of time.
  • Overnight travel or staying in the city of the client's location is possible, depending on the assignment.

  • You will visit Client sites and will be required to adhere to stated safety rules.
  • Must have access to reliable transportation.
  • Must have the ability to travel and commute on a daily or routine basis.
