Job description

Sedgman is currently seeking a Mining Study Project Manager to join the mining team in Vancouver BC. The ideal candidate will have had experience leading studies (Concept to Feasibility), overseeing the entire process from planning to report delivery. 

He / She will manage client relationships, budgets, schedules and coordinate diverse specialist consultants when required (geology, environmental, etc.). The incumbent will bridge technical teams, business development and stakeholders to ensure high quality, on-time project deliverables.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare proposals and tenders with the intention of winning, completing and converting this work into execution opportunities. 
  • Develop and deliver robust studies and tenders according to agreed budget, schedule and client expectations, achieving a successful commercial outcome.  

  • Develop and maintain a study team, identify resource requirements, and coordinate input by various departments and external consultants as required. 

  • Develop and maintain professional client relationships with project representatives. 

  • Support Business and Project Development activities through provision of targeted technical inputs and advice. 

  • Develop optimum value business cases that bring together commercial concepts and technical knowledge. 

  • Ensure standard documents and processes are implemented and continuously used. 

  • Ensure alignment of study estimates and execution plans with expected commercial and contracting models. 

  • Facilitate handover of studies and development work to the next phase (e.g. engineering, projects). 

  • Build client relationships and foster communication, and update CRM system (Salesforce), including new opportunities and documenting client feedback  

What are we looking for in our future team member? Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Process, Chemical, Metallurgy, Mechanical, Electrical or Civil)

  • Will have their EGBC P.Eng. Certification; an asset if possess other engineering certifications

  • Must have 10+ years' of relevant experience in project study development, engineering, project study delivery, and/or site operations/support (in mining & mineral processing) 

  • Will have 3 or more years' continuous experience in a Study Leader role. 

  • High level of written and verbal communication skills. 

  • Previous experience with large (mining) clients, making presentations.

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship

Salary range : $155,000 - $180,000

The salary offered to the successful person for this position will consider education, experience, relevant skills and capability, geographic location and market conditions at the time of hire.
