Job Title: Director of Project Development

Department: Operations

Reports To: Director of Operations

Location: Valley Stream (Hybrid)

Travel: Up to 25%


Position Summary


The Director of Project Development is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing complex development projects from concept through completion. This role serves as the central project lead, working cross-functionally with internal departments and external partners to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in alignment with company standards and strategic objectives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the full lifecycle of development projects, including new locations, expansions, and major renovations
  • Develop and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams including Operations, IT, Finance, Merchandising, Visual, Marketing, HR and Supply Chain
  • Serve as primary point of contact for external stakeholders such as landlords, architects, contractors, and vendors
  • Monitor project progress and provide regular status updates to senior leadership
  • Manage capital expenditure budgets and track project costs
  • Identify and resolve issues that may impact scope, timeline, or budget
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and company standards
  • Establish standardized project documentation, reporting tools, and best practices
  • Support site feasibility, planning, and strategic development initiatives


Qualifications


Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred


Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, development, or related roles
  • Experience managing complex, multi-phase projects
  • Retail, hospitality, airport, or commercial development experience preferred
