Job Summary
Langan is seeking a Technology Innovation Software Development Manager to join its Technology Innovation Group. This individual will lead the delivery of software solutions; manage, mentor, and prioritize the work of a team of software developers and innovation specialists; and coordinate closely with the Senior Enterprise IT, networking, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data teams to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, supportable, and aligned with firmwide technology standards. In this role, you will own the delivery lifecycle for delegated software products, including requirements gathering, backlog management, sprint planning, technical review, testing coordination, release planning, and ongoing enhancements.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage the day-to-day work of a team of software developers, assigning, and prioritizing tasks, balancing workloads, and removing blockers to keep delivery on track;
  • Own the software development life cycle for assigned products, including backlog management, sprint planning, technical review, testing coordination, release planning, and ongoing enhancements;
  • Mentor and support developers through code reviews, pair programming, and regular feedback, fostering strong coding practices and consistent standards across the team;
  • Oversee project execution, ensuring deliverables are on time, on budget, and aligned with quality standards;
  • Conduct demos, sprint reviews, and progress updates for technical and non-technical stakeholders;
  • Coordinate closely with Enterprise IT, networking, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and data teams to ensure solutions are secure, scalable, supportable, and aligned with firmwide technology standards;
  • Support testing, QA, and bug triage to maintain product quality and reliability;
  • Maintain the team's development tooling and workflows, including enterprise GitHub repositories and CI/CD pipelines; and
  • Help onboard and train new developers on the team's tools, codebase, and development processes.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required (Master's degree preferred);
  • 6+ years of software development experience, including at least 1-2 years coordinating or leading a development team;
  • Demonstrated track record of delivering software products through the full development life cycle;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, remain flexible, and manage multiple priorities effectively;
  • Hands-on experience across the full software development life cycle, from development through testing, release, and maintenance;
  • Experience leading or coordinating a team of developers - assigning work, prioritizing a backlog, and conducting code reviews;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills; able to translate requirements into clear technical tasks and explain progress to technical and non-technical stakeholders;
  • Proficiency with Agile/Scrum methodologies and sprint-based delivery;
  • Strong software development background in one or more modern programming languages and frameworks, with working knowledge of version control (Git/GitHub) and project management and collaboration tools (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps, Miro, etc.);
  • Experience managing, or mentoring a small team of junior developers preferred;
  • Familiarity with Esri GIS products and enterprise geospatial solutions preferred;
  • Familiarity with Autodesk CAD products preferred;
  • Experience with cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure preferred;
  • Experience with AI/ML platforms (Azure AI, OpenAI, Google Vertex AI, AWS SageMaker) preferred;
  • Understanding of containerization and cloud-native technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, serverless platforms) preferred;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • Strong planning and organizational skills;
  • Ability to work independently; and
  • Sound judgment capability and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Bonuses are discretionary and based on individual job performance and the profitability of the firm. Employees are also eligible to receive up to 20 days of paid vacation time, 10 days of paid sick time and 10 paid holidays throughout the year. Eligibility and actual paid time off may vary based on local law and factors such as hours worked, related work experience and level.
